The Auger Observatory is a "hybrid detector," employing two independent methods for detecting high-energy cosmic rays. One technique detects high energy particles through their interaction with water placed in surface detector tanks. The other technique tracks the development of air showers by observing ultraviolet light emitted high in the Earth's atmosphere.

It is placed at Pampa Amarilla, near the city of Malargüe in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. Total area: 3000 Km².

Acer tegmentosum 'White Tigress' (Tim Brotzman) 2020 photo - Common Name: Snakebark Maple, Mature size: 15-30ft., leaves turning yellow in the fall. white bark during the winter months, USDA Hardiness Zone 5, In Garden Bed HR-VC for 12.9 YEARS (HLG). Planted in 2007.

Dunn Gardens: I have to admit that a lot of the striped bark maples have not impressed me, but this selection has. The problem with quite a few cultivars is, as the tree matures, the striping effect fades out (as the effect is most pronounced on young plants). 'White Tigress' keeps it 'stripiness', as the tree matures, which pleases us. There have been other forms that we've ripped out, as they've become dull and stupid with age.

And, the bark pattern is really the only reason to grow most of these trees, as autumn color is often sort of 'meh'. Our tree is sited under a high mixed canopy (Doug fir and chestnuts). We give the tree supplemental water, as it does not appreciate being tortured with months of drought. Treat it well and you will be rewarded!
