My Step-Mom (Lance's Mom)(She's no longer married to my Dad, but I still call her Mom) called last week and told us that she wanted to have the kids come to visit her at her home on the Sunshine Coast. WITHOUT US. She wants to start a tradition of having the grandkids come to Grandma Shona's house.
Considering that no other Grandparent has ever done this for us, we are in a little bit of shock.
The plan is for her to come up here for a visit and then bring the kids back with her for a few days. I will then drive down and pick them up.
CAN I GET A "WOOHOO"?
The kids have talked about it non-stop, though it is weeks away. Graham drew this map today showing the route to Grandma Shona's house.
Awesome.
(Though not to scale. Just so you know.)
Muni is testing an animated map showing the position of all the trains in the entire system.
This replaces a feed from Central Control that was hard to read, but had one advantage in showing whether trains were one or two-car.
What I really need that's not shown here are arrival times. Being able to see N-Judah's bunched up in the avenues doesn't tell me when the next one will arrive. And without any landmarks I can't use this to find a stop unless it's a station or at a line's outer terminal.
Like most of Muni the only directions given are Inbound and Outbound. One of the most common questions riders ask is which way is downtown, but rather than just say "downtown" riders are expected to learn Muni terminology.
Photo Group "One Road" Assignment, by Andrew, featuring London Road, Sheffield, UK.
London Road is a route of three distinct sections, as I have highlighted on the map. Originally, the major route south out of Sheffield, the road is now split between the Bakewell route (connecting to Abbeydale Road and the A621) and the A61 Chesterfield route (sandwiched between Queen's Road and Chesterfield Road). If you don't know the area, it's very difficult to tell where London Road joins Abbeydale and Chesterfield Roads.
London Road passes through several districts of Sheffield. Starting almost in the City Centre at Little Sheffield, the road is then bordered by Highfield and Sharrow, and continues to Lowfield, then Heeley. Follow this link to see where London Road is in Sheffield.

ODC. Begins with I and Representations of People. Isolationism means remaining in a state of peace by avoiding foreign entanglements and responsibilities. I know that the world is full of horrible atrocities. But why does the U.S. think that they have the obligation and right to step in? Isn't that what the U.N. is for? I am afraid I might start a Flickr war with this opinion.
Undated BLM map of Cowiche Canyon. This was the most recent map available from the Spokane BLM office in 2011. I didn't find it online, but thought it was useful so I'm posting this scan. Hi-res available if you "view all sizes"

Map put out by the city of Yubari showing recent bear sightings (I think during July of this year). Apparently there is a hoard of bears infesting Yubari. Essentially, the text is saying, "if you like bears, visit Yubari!" Fortunately, when Naomi and I lived in Yubari, we didn't see any bears - just lots of signs of bears...

This is the ancient Atlantis map, which is a perfect overlay of the Atlantic Master map.
Using Photoshop, copy this entire frame onto a Layer 1 of the Atlantic Master image.
The registration marks should overly exactly.
After the red is evacuated, the leftover image "Layer 2" can be toggled over the Atlantic ocean floor image "Layer 1", then toggled below the ocean floor layer.
Upon magnified, the startling overlay indicates ancient ocean floor habitats, roads, rivers, convergences.
