The map I made to paint on the plane. The trail goes up toward Paris, where I took the train for the second half of my vacation. Those sketches come next!

Description: Topographic map zoomed into to the area from the falls to just above the delta.
Another slope map.
Red - staircases
Green - walking and bicycle paths
Gray - alleys and freeways. Freeways are often off grade, which renders the elevation profile invalid. Alleys are often ungraded.
Black - all other roads.
Note: though the map is generally true, there are lots of artifacts.
December 27, 2018 - "The Madaba Map is the oldest extant map of the Holy Land and is dated to the middle of the 6th century AD. It was discovered in the 19th century, during an excavation and reconstruction of a mosaic floor in St George’s Church in Madaba, Jordan. The mosaic map was created according to the Old and New Testaments by Greek monk Salmanos. The map represents biblical sites: Jordan river and mount Nebo in Jordan; Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho – on the Western bank of Jordan River in Palestine and Israel, Delta Nile and Sinai desert in Egypt.

In theory, this map allows visitors to describe their local ramen, or their favorite ramen from a certain locality. I added Okinawa soba. Others added scribbles, graffiti, and random nonsense.
I've been reading A Game of Thrones and started looking at the map in the front of the book. I thought it was so neat that I'd try something along that line.
I've never done any type of cartography before and thought this was rather fun, but rushed. It's actually SUPER hard to put together a well designed map... I had no idea.
I'll probably end up either fleshing this out greatly, or starting on something new with MUCH more detail.
It's very hard to get tiny finger typography on the map so I was using icons to reference cities. We'll see where these ideas take me.
Either way, I've had painter's block again and this was fun to pull me back in.

The best way for me to capture ideas is using a mind map. It helps me capture thoughts and ideas, whether they be mine, or me running a workshop, as I did the last couple of days in Canberra. Sometimes the best gems of information comes at a random time, and it is easy enough to capture it down, or your own thoughts / questions to clarify, without upsetting the flow.
For this image, I took a photo of my whiteboard, where I put up a simple mind map, and overlayed it in photoshop with the photo of myself.
