Beautiful things happen with the surface of the water is still. The reflections allow there to be a "second sky", and the perfect symmetry of mirrored shorelines makes for a very asthetically pleasing result. Perhaps this is why Psalms 46 reminds us to be still and know Him. Beautiful things happen in that stillness when we allow His glory to be reflected.
