El Torcal - Antequera - Andalusia - Spain - spanish ibex
El Torcal Park Nature Reserve is known for it's unusual limestone rock formations. The whole area was under sea until one hundred million years ago. Then the violent movements of the Earth's crust forced it upward into hills and mountains up to 1.300 m, the limestone still kept its layered horizontal formation. Because of this, over the millions of years the rain and wind have been able to chisel away at these layers to form incredible shapes.
On the final approach to Eola, one of the crewmen flag a pair of unprotected crossings. A normal practice for the 452 job.
The same scene as the previous photo. One dog with a different head position. And a different cropping.

Just some of the cleaning crew in my apartment complex. They are sweeping and scooping water out of the pond, bucket by bucket (in preparation for the winter freeze). I guess when labor is cheap, you can use this approach.

Re-visiting Ireland. Well, sort of. I was to visit Ireland for the second time in May 2020, but the global pandemic of a corona virus from China killed many people around the world, and along my long-planned re-visit of the Emerald Isle. Yes, I totally agree that my "loss" is minuscule in relation to the many people who lost their lives and livelihoods.
Anyhow, I'm posting some photos from the 2013 trip that were never uploaded before.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Manpower is in the one who holds the money. Development is decided upon due to consumerism & revenue. So what do you think is beautiful and where do you put your money… We all do have a say at the end of the day.

After the defeat at Stalingrad, the German army was pushed back to the western part of Russia, losing their gains in the summer of 1942 in southern Russia and the Caucasus. However, they still had enough manpower and machinery to wage future offensives against the Soviet Union. German high command believed that the best place to wage this offensive was to envelop the salient surrounding the city of Kursk in what became known as Operation Citadel. The offensive began in July 1943 and saw the first use of the Panther, Ferdinand, and Hummel. The German army numbered aroung 780,000 men, 3,000 tanks, and 10,000 guns and mortars compared to the Soviets 1,900,000 men, 5,100 tanks, and 25,000 guns and mortars. While the Germans saw some initial success, they were quickly worn down by Soviet defenses and manpower.
The Soviets were prepared for this offensive having received intelligence from the British and had fortified their lines. They also had more time to prepare as the Germans were waiting on their new weapons as they believed their new vehicles would help them win the war in the long term. However, this was not the case, despite their effectiveness. The Allies also launched the invasion of Sicily in the same month, and Operation Citadel was abandoned. Hitler moved some units that were at Kursk to Italy to fortify that front. The Soviets then launched Operation Kutuzov in the north and Operation Rumyantsev in the south of Kursk where they would succeed in recapturing more territory. The Soviets now had the initiative on the Eastern front.
The Battle of Kursk marked a turning point in the war on the Eastern front as the Germans were no longer able to wage a major offensive again. While they inflicted heavy losses on the Soviets who lost 250,000 men, 600,000 wounded, and 6,000 vehicles and artillery pieces, the Germans lost 200,000 men and 3,000 tanks. The Soviets could sustain these losses, while the Germans were unable to. The battle itself would also go down as the largest tank battle in history.
This build does not bring the Battle of Kursk justice, so this will be a topic that will be revisited in the future.

Yesterday I went to shoot in Abu Dhabi traditional dhows race( Mahamel). I asked my friend (Al Noketha ) which means the capton of the dhow, what makes a dhow faster than the other, they all look the same? He said, its not the dhow which matters, it’s the manpower which makes it faster. I took that in consideration, the race began with 180 dhows, only 60 could reach the end, in those 60 dhows I noticed that it’s the power of men which drives the dhow faster and faster. Not how its made or what was it made of.
That was an example to some friends that think its the device which makes our life easier and manpower can be replaced. Ok it might make our lives easier but it can't replace manpower becuase its the manpower which operates it, its the manpower which makes it, its the manpower which makes it better. Take that in consideration ;)
Congrats to my cousin for getting 3rd.

Even though they do the same jobs, the living conditions of Malaysian workers in the tea gardens in Cameron HIghlands are much better than the conditions for Bangladeshi workers.
The race is on!! The Man vs. Machine race was held for cyclists who tried to use manpower to win against horsepower. The 4960 went north with 5 cars on an early 0800 departure from Williams. The special was serviced at the Grand Canyon. After the water pump on the tankcar wouldn't start, it was added to the train. Even with the extra tonnage, and the train stopping while a pile of bikers were cleaned up back near the Canyon, the train easily coasted to a stop at the depot to take the checkered flag. While this shot makes it appear to be a close race, it was more for publicity.

Ladies and gentlemen!
This time we went to the studio to create dramatic light and a story of women being strong and powerful. I especially looked for creating cinematic effect in these works (I guess, recent re-watching of Stanley Kubrick’s masterpieces influenced me). I want my pictures to be vivid and powerful, I want composition to be whimsical and I want every detail to speak for itself.

Md. Shahidul Islam, the Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Malaysia, openly admits that his embassy is incapable of serving the large number of migrant workers that flock his office. Dalal's (middlemen) often end up exploiting the workers.
