I think of myself as a ‘hunter of images’. I love to find beautiful scenes just as they are, without adding filters, retouching, manipulation and using only available light. I think of my camera and my lenses like a painter thinks of a brush and paint: they’re the tools I use to show the world as I see it.
I’m never happier than when I have my camera with me and I’m shooting. Then I forget my back’s broken (yes, I can walk), that some things worry me, that things aren’t as they’re supposed to. When I’m taking photographs, life is perfect, joyful, I’m in awe of the things I find, and I’m always moved by life and beauty on this planet. I tend to use my macro lens a lot —it’s my favourite—, but well, on a trip I jump from the macro to the zoom. My cameras have always been Nikon, and these were taken with a D80.
These photos were taken on my second trip to India, almost 20 years after the first one, and some of these photographs will be part of an exhibit soon. Their names and info, plus many more photos are on my site. You’re welcome to visit it. Which are your favourites?

My self-guided project was using the same picture and altering it in photoshop however, focusing specifically on how I could manipulate and change the original colors within the photograph whether it was the subjects or background. Prior to my project I spent some time observing the art concept of color theory and how the color wheel works. This influenced me to incorporate a concept with color into my project although, I wanted my project to also be photoshop based as I haven’t done a lot of projects that way. This project reflects my personal likes as I love seeing how different colors look with each other and also how gradients work. Some new skills I learned over the course of this was: learning how to use the gradient tool and map thoroughly, how to effectively use curves and black & white adjustments, and how to use clipping masks in photoshop. I also gained knowledge of how the blending modes in photoshop work. At first I couldn’t figure out how to keep the shadows form the original picture when using the gradient tool so I learned how to use the gradient map which kept more of the originals shadows intact for background changes. My project was successful in the sense that I learned new photoshop skills and knowledge along with getting to brush up on my old skills. If I were doing this project again I would put focus into working with added shadows rather than using only the original ones and focusing only on color manipulation.

I don't like flashy awards, since they're mostly given because of an obligation to stupid group rules. If you got something to say, say it in your own words and not by copying and pasting. I don't follow such rules, so if you have the sweaper running, don't even bother to invite me please. As of now the flashy awards will be removed, no offence!
I took the pictures, manipulated them into this, and then painted in the details in Photoshop... EVERYTHING in this picture was created by me.
It was made for a contest on DA, portraying emotions. Winners haven't been announced yet, so I still have hope lol. I doubt I'll win, but I tried!
