Photo manipulation of pen drawing from series: emptiness 2007

Shown here is the manipulation chart for EJ&E's West Chicago tower as of June 20th, 2001. The "A" Plant was located north of the tower at the old C&NW(nee-CGW)/EJ&E crossing, which was at this time controlled from a newer modern box in tower, located on the lever bed. The "B" plant (hence the name "JB" tower) was the crossings of the EJ&E and the C&NW and CB&Q (removed by this time). The list of routes for the C&NW is lengthy as they had a 3-track mainline with 2 sets of crossovers, an interlocked industry switch and an interlocked yard lead switch that went 2 directions (one towards the yard and one towards the Belvidere sub). The tower had only 37 levers in use when I was working there but the leverbed had 54 pistol grip levers (1-39, and 100-115).

Realized for this manipulation game.

There was a lot of processing, I'll try to explain the main steps (using Gimp):

- The vehicle and logo came from this fan site

- The original logo was very poor so I re-vectorized it with the nice tool that Jean-Etienne presented last week

- Many layers (8 active)

- The grid was done with a filter->render->pattern->grid with strong Gaussian blur on a copy then a heavy perspective distortion and finally an interactive distortion to follow the relief and a gradient layer mask

- The wall was done from a Bezier path converted to a selection then filled with a color gradient white->orange->dark orange

- The sky was darken according to a gradient layer mask as the original TRON sky is completely black...

- Some cloning

- An attempt of Orton effect, still with Gimp, by following this tutorial, the effect is more visible at larger size

Original bandstand Gazebo uploaded by monkeywing.

I have used one of own photographs of Granite Gorge for the setting.

The idea of this particular edit is doorways to different dimensions. ie...from Kensington Gardens, London, to a Nature park in Queensland Australia.

Created for the WPC Week 84

The old Main St Broiler, on Main Street ( of course ), Moab, Utah.

Polaroid SX-70, TimeZero manipulation.

Literally. I only know how to draw eyes. And I realized that when I drew this one(yes, only one), so I used it for this manip :)

Peek-A-Boo...Cross-My-Heart...I wish that my bra hadn't been in that shot...

Just a little more photo narcissism.

Ren og skær fup og snyd. Disse 2 tog var på hver sit billede. Syntes bare at det ville være perfekt med de 2 generationer tog på samme foto.

Der var nøjagtig 39 sekunder imellem de 2 optagelser.

A little manipulation on photoshop with a discharge of 250v, emphasizing the flash point with a wee smiley, hey! it took me a couple of hours to catch the sparks.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

Charge a 10uF capacitor with a 250v megger, connect the leads of the capacitor to a couple of leads; colour optional, use a 4 second bulb shutter release in total darkness and bring the leads together. At about 1mm apart the electricity jumps from one lead to the other, the light created from the spark obviously lights the photo and Hey Presto! Sorry about the crumbs on the table but I just had had my tea!

I was chuffed so I added a little smiley on Photoshop to the pic....the original is in my photostream.
