Me and my amazing blonde afro-wig :D
The meals in sleeper class on the train are fabulous. There are always 4 options, all of them gourmet. This dinner had rack of lamb, trout, beef short ribs and a pasta dish as options. This is the first of three sittings for dinner. I was just walking through as my reservation was in the third sitting.
I started my train journey west on Thursday, July 25, 2013. My first leg was Winnipeg to Saskatoon where I would have a week stopover before continuing on to BC the following Thursday.
this is Kasey. he's American; but he still rocks. (:
and just to bug him, I'm going to use all the Canadian spellings of colours and clothing. xD
the back of his shirt is real awesome, too --> see comments.

Churchill marched into the room scowling, "regarding my camera as he might regard the German enemy." His expression suited Karsh perfectly, but the cigar stuck between his teeth seemed incompatible with such a solemn and formal occasion. "Instinctively, I removed the cigar. At this the Churchillian scowl deepened, the head was thrust forward belligerently, and the hand placed on the hip in an attitude of anger."
The wedding ceremony was early afternoon on Saturday September 21 at Longfellow Garden in Minnehaha Park.
We went on a road trip for about two weeks in the last half of September. We drove from Salt Spring Island, BC in Canada to Minneapolis, MN in the USA, via Maple Ridge, Saskatoon and Winnipeg on the way there and adding a stop in Kamloops on the way back. We had a friend's wedding to attend in Mpls and did much visiting of family and friends during the trip.

The day after their wedding, Nancy and Danny hosted a brunch at their house for all of the out of town guests. This was mostly family of Nancy's, but also included my Bhigg House family, David and me. It was a very nice time and extended well past afternoon and even into the evening. Good food and good company.

George goofing around.
In late March our friend George took us (and Panda) to a park called Shi Li Chang Di (10 mile Long Deck) along the shores of Lake Tai. It was a blustery day, but nice weather for a walk.
Danny takes stock of a napkin ring.
We got to watch the gift opening.

night 3 - post JBB. it was a long day. you can't tell, but in this picture we are giving "the sign" as seen in team america: world police.
After our elephant excursion we flagged a tuktuk. After some haggling he said he would take us to our next destination (Siam Museum of Discovery) for 100 baht (a low price for the distance) if we would let him take us to two 'factories' (places that want to sell you what they produce) first. This would get him some free gas it seemed. He showed us on his Bangkok map where we were, where we wanted to go and then where these two places were -- not far out of the way. We agreed and he took us to the 'factories'.
Back in the tuktuk and on the road again and our driver then started asking 400 baht to take us to our destination. At this we all objected with my mother taking point. She lit into him like no one's business and David and I just did mop up operations. He was suitably cowed and only tried once or twice more to redirect us to the reclining Buddha, always directing his pitch to me or David, not wanting to mess with the angry grandmother. It was quite amusing. He did take us to the museum and was very jovial as we paid him the agreed upon 100 baht. It was all part of the game.
We stayed right in downtown Bangkok in the heart of the tourist area.
We were in Bangkok from Friday, February 22 to Wednesday, February 27.
