As of late not much makes me smile - Yeah I know booo hooooo to me. Like we all aren't in the same spot. I buy tulips to make it feel like spring and make me feel happy. Love when tulips start to drop.

Make a Wish!

I Made a wish. Since comet Ison disintegrated I waited for the day I could see a comet naked eye. I tried several times. Light pollution in Athens had a different opinion. I didn’t give up hope. My summer holidays was at a bortle 2 sky. It was the time that the comet made the transition from morning to evening skies. So, there it was, a star with a tail, the most exciting thing I have seen in my life. When I think of it, gives me goosebumps! So make your wish and never stop trying to fulfill it.

This shot had a lot of planning and a big help from my girlfriend. It was made with an old Jupiter 21M 200mm f4 from 1975 and my modded A7s. I had a custom white balance color profile inside my camera that I used which gave the purple tone I wanted.

Mood

A Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) was framed moments before landing to its nest building site carrying small twigs on beak. Its partner sitting there, was busy arranging the tiny branches in the making of their nest. The fully spread wings and the landing posture made it look fantastic in the natural ambience. Pics was taken from Bharatpur, India.

Practice Makes Perfect - A couple weeks ago, I observed a cooperative immature Red-tailed Hawk on a family hike. I didn't get the shots I wanted that day, but figured I'd try again.

My buddy and I were treated to almost an hour of great passes by this hawk during a windy morning as it practiced hunting and chased a group of Turkey Vultures around. Was a great opportunity to practice bird in flight (BIF) techniques!

With several inches of fresh snow and frigid temps that assured it wouldn't melt I headed west after work for a couple trains at one of my favorite spots that offers up perfect morning light.

CSXT train I022 (hot Syracuse to Worcester long pool intermodal) with 2748 tons and 4443 ft of train trailing two big Gevos up front makes effortless work of the 1% grade up Charlton Hill as they sail thru the interlocking at CP60 on modern day CSXT's Boston Sub mainline, the once and forever Boston and Albany Railroad. The train's destination is only fifteen miles away after making a fast early morning run along the Mohawk River, across the Hudson and up over the Berkshires on the the old Vanderbilt road.
