HH has a neat remote helicopter. Last time he and the boys played with it, a part was broken. No biggie. Took a while to get the part in, so picked up a few spares of each common breakable part.

Then was the problem of the time to work on it and fly it.

They have a good time working on it and flying it.

Abandoned maintenance area

The Paddington Maintenance Depot (1966-68) was designed for British Rail by architects Bicknell & Hamilton.

Canal House, the office component of the depot, was refurbished for retailer Monsoon in 2003 by Allford, Hall Monagham. Monsoon have recently moved out to their new HQ in Frestonia (Notting Hill).

The Rotunda, the actual vehicle maintenance area (forground of photo), has been used as the design HQ of Nissan Europe since 2001.

The building received a Concrete Society award in 1969 and was listed Grade II in 1994.

Having not railfanned in a long time, I was all excited to hit Byron Hill this morning only to find 40+ MOW vehicles occupying the main. So, it was time to get north of Shops and take my chances. Well, I arrived at the Oshkosh drawbridge and ten minutes later, the gates dropped. Well, what should appear? More MOW....@*$(#&$(#&$

I came across this delightful message while trying to pay for something online tonight. Everybody has maintenance downtimes, but 48 hours? What could possibly take 48 hours? (Hmm... maybe packing up all your servers and skipping town...)
