The oldest known church in Enningdalen was a stave church situated at Kirkebøen at the North end of Kirkevannet a couple of kilometres from the Swedish border. The stave church decayed during the 1600s and was replaced by a wooden church at the same spot, which was demolished in 1795, however, the old cemetery was maintained.

Mads Berg, who had lived in Enningdalen and became a song book writer, took the initiative in building a new church on the same location in 1942. It took 10 years before he got the building permit, and the corner stone was placed in 1953. The church was finished in 1956, and the architect was Dag Borge.

The church has seats for 100 people, and the altarpiece displays a scene from “Jesus and the disciples at Mount Tabor” painted by Anna Vigen (1869–1954). Both the pulpit and the baptismal font are made of wood, and they are from 1956. The church has one church bell and an electronic organ.

Good Morning. I have some good news, the hormones are working to maintain my tumors. The biggest mass may have even shrunk slightly, and because hormones are slow acting (unlike chemo if it works, it works much more quickly), my Oncologist is happy. There are also no new growths - PHEW! This means I stay on hormones for another three months and get re-tested. The tumors will never be gone, but this will extend my life, for a while, in a much more healthy way.

Besides the hormones, I have also been taking CBD twice a day and a mushroom complex once per day (reishi, chaga, Lion's Mane and Shitake). I will continue to take it all because I'm not sure if it's the combination, or one or the other that are actually working.

I also believe that all of your prayers, good vibes and thoughts help in the best way ❤ I can never thank you all enough.

BTW - when we arrived at the Cancer Centre there were demonstrations from anti-vaxers that wouldn't allow us in. (I heard earlier they were blocking emergency). We were finally able to get to our appointment with police help, albeit a little late. I guess they think they get their biggest bang for their buck at the hospital, however it seems to be a very dangerous location - cancer patients who were very sick and going for treatments had to walk past protestors, not vaccinated or wearing masks. I respect their right - their body, their choice, but I think there are safer places to demonstrate, because this is my body and my choice, and I don't think that was fair.

This is on the outskirts of the historic West Bottoms district in Kansas City, Missouri. Many of the original brick buildings are still standing but most are abandoned. This area was the center of the cattle industry in Kansas City during the late 19th and early 20th centuries...there was a huge stock yard that has long since been torn down. The area was serviced by an extensive rail network which shipped beef in and out to and from all over the United States. There are plans to revitalize the area with apartments and shopping and indeed the abandoned building in the background will soon be demolished to make room for apartments. I hope whoever develops this area maintains as much of the historic flavor as possible. Captured with my Fuji GW690ii on Shanghai GP3 100, 220 film. Developed with Xtol at 1:1.

Herring Cove Provincial Park reserve begins from a parking lot with a great coastal view. This area is actually a reserve and has a 1.5km (1 mi) stretch of coastline to hike on.

The views here are as good as anywhere in the province. It is a typical coastal landscape, similar to Peggy’s Cove or Duncan’s Cove, and similar to those areas, there are no maintained trails.

Newton House is owned and maintained by the National Trust, and is situated in Dinefwr Park (Anglice Dynevor Park) in Carmarthenshire in Wales. The large estate was broken up prior to acquisition of the mansion by the Trust, and a substantial part of its outbuildings is owned by a Norwegian family and commercially let.

Newton House is in the grounds of Dinefwr Castle, owned by The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales and maintained by Cadw. It lies close to the centre of the market town of Llandeilo.

It was formerly the main residence of the Rice (Rhys) family, elevated to the peerage of Great Britain as Baron Dynevor. The residence has been restored to what it would have been as an estate house of the later Victorian or early Edwardian period.

The interior has maintained the original Romanesque Greek cross plan, with a nave and two aisles divided by piers and ending with an apse, but the decoration its largely from the 17th century Baroque renovation.

On the walls are tapestries, partly executed in Florence (1583–1586) under Alessandro Allori's design, partly of Flemish manufacture, depicting the Life of Mary. Over the tapestry of the Crucifixion (executed in Antwerp on Ludwig van Schoor's cartoons, 1698) is a painting by Luca Giordano, with the Passage of the Red Sea (1691).

Left to the entrance is the sepulchre of Cardinal Guglielmo Longhi, work by Ugo da Campione (1313–1320). On the rear wall are the tomb of the composer Gaetano Donizetti, by Vincenzo Vela (1855) and that of the latter's master Simone Mayr (1852). At the beginning of the left aisle is the Baroque confessional carved by Andrea Fantoni in 1704. A crucifix from the 14th century is on the presbytery's balustrade.

In the presbytery itself, housing six bronze candelabra from 1597, is a wooden choir designed by Bernardo Zenale and Andrea Previtali. The reliefs with Biblical tales were executed in 1524–1555 on designs by Lorenzo Lotto. They are characterized by a polychrome effect rendered through the use of different wood types.

The right transepts has Giottesque frescoes from an unknown artist, with Histories of St Aegidius, The Last Supper and the Tree of Life (1347), partially covered by a 17th-century fresco.

pinyon buckwheat, Eriogonum microthecum var. laxiflorum, Nevada, White Mountains, Sugarloaf, Sugarloaf Canyon, Pinchot Creek - Columbus Salt Marsh watershed, elevation 2618 m (8590 ft).

This variety is common in dry upland habitats at middle elevations in the intermountain region between the Rocky Mountains and the Cascade-Sierra Nevada axis of the western United States. About the only thing separating var. laxiflorum from yellow-flowered var. ambiguum is the white flower color, but the two varieties mostly seem to maintain separate populations. The var. ambiguum has a much more restricted geographic range in the northwestern Great Basin, but is completely surrounded by the larger range of var. laxiflorum.

Florida's Turnpike, designated as unsigned State Road 91 (SR 91), is a toll road in the U.S. state of Florida, maintained by Florida's Turnpike Enterprise (FTE). Spanning approximately 309 miles (497 km) along a northwest–southeast axis, the turnpike is in two sections. The SR 91 mainline runs roughly 265 miles (426 km), from its southern terminus at an interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95) in Miami Gardens to an interchange with I-75 in Wildwood at its northern terminus. The Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike (abbreviated HEFT and designated as unsigned SR 821) continues from the southern end of the mainline for another 48 miles (77 km) to US Highway 1 (US 1) in Florida City. The slogan for the road is "The Less Stressway". The mainline opened in stages between 1957 and 1964, while the extension was completed in 1974. The turnpike runs through Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach, where it parallels I-95, and through Orlando, where it crosses I-4.

Tolls on the turnpike are an average of 6.7 cents per mile (4.2 ¢/km) for cars and other two-axle vehicles using SunPass. A trip on the entire turnpike (not including the Homestead Extension) would cost $22.59 with Toll-by-Plate, and $17.45 with SunPass.

The turnpike was originally entirely on the ticket system, but due to congestion in the Miami and Orlando metro areas, a coin system was implemented from the Three Lakes toll plaza north to the terminus at I-75, and from Lantana south to I-95, in the 1990s. In 2015, the portion between the Golden Glades toll barrier and I-595 in Davie was converted to a cashless toll system. Additional projects to convert the turnpike to an electronic collection system were completed between I-595 and Lantana in 2019, and from SR 429 north to I-75 in Wildwood in 2020.

The final stretch of the turnpike to use the ticket system ran between what are now electronic toll gantries at Lantana (mile 89.4 in Palm Beach County) and Three Lakes (mile 236.5 in Osceola County). This section was converted to a cashless system on November 8, 2021, removing the final cash-based toll collections and converting the entire length of the turnpike to electronic toll collection.

The SunPass electronic toll collection system, in use since 1999, has become the primary method of paying tolls on the turnpike, with 80% of customers using the electronic tolling as of October 2009. SunPass can be used on most Florida toll roads, in conjunction with other electronic toll collection systems in Florida (E-Pass and LeeWay). SunPass users benefit from an average of a 25% discount on tolls and access to SunPass-only exit ramps. SunPass transponders are available at the gift shop and gas stations at all service plazas, as well as Walgreens, Publix, and CVS stores statewide.[18] Since 2021, E-ZPass, which is used primarily in the Midwest and Northeast U.S., has also been accepted on Florida's Turnpike.

As the Turnpike and its system of roads are primary routes for emergency evacuations, tolls may be suspended, in cooperation with the state's emergency operations center and county governments, when a state or national emergency, most common being a hurricane watch, warrant rapid movement of the population.

Eight service plazas are located along the turnpike, spaced about 45 miles (72 km) apart. All eight plazas are open 24 hours a day and located on the center median of the turnpike for access from both directions and offer gasoline, diesel fuel, internet access, travel and tourism info and tickets, picnic areas, TV news, gift shops offering Florida Lottery, family-friendly restrooms, and pay phones. A convenience store/gas station is located at the Snapper Creek plaza on the Homestead Extension of the turnpike, while the remaining seven are full-service plazas, featuring a selection of franchised fast food restaurants. Three of the service plazas (Pompano, Port St. Lucie/Fort Pierce, Turkey Lake) also provide E85 ethanol. The Turkey Lake plaza also has a Tesla Supercharger for Tesla electric vehicles. Superchargers are also located at Ft. Drum plaza, and Canoe Creek and Okahumpa are scheduled to open Superchargers in 2021/22.

The operation of Sunshine State Parkway gas stations and service centers was originally bid out under separate contracts, and as a result, differing petroleum brands operated concurrently along the parkway, with varying levels of service and pricing. This practice was discontinued in 1995 when all service center operations were combined to improve supply and continuity of service; with Martin Petroleum, a Florida corporation, operating the stations with Citgo brand fuel at its stations. Since then, the Venezuelan government, under President Hugo Chávez, nationalized Citgo, and in 2006, political controversy resulted in a movement to remove the brand from the turnpike.

In 2009, Areas U.S.A. signed a 30-year contract for operation of food and retail concessions, taking over operations from Martin Petroleum and HMSHost. Florida Turnpike Services, L.L.C., Areas' partner, replaced the Citgo brand with Shell, the current brand for gas stations along the turnpike. Many of the restaurant brands were also changed over, with Dunkin' Donuts replacing Starbucks locations as well as KFC, Pizza Hut, Villa Pizza and Wendy's replacing most Popeyes and Burger King locations. The reconstruction and renovation of six of the service plazas began on November 1, 2010, to be completed in 2012. The Okahumpka and Ft. Pierce plazas will begin reconstruction when the other plaza projects are complete. Total renovation costs are estimated at $160 million.

Northern or Subarctic Great Horned Owl or Western Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus subarcticus - Hoy, 1853)

Range: Found in northwestern British Colombia east through Mackenzie County, Alberta to Hudson Bay and south into the United States, where they are found in Wyoming and North Dakota. This race - or intermediates between this form and ssp. pallescens and/or lagophonus (or unnamed race) - also occurs south to Arizona, New Mexico and southwestern Texas (where they are found in the Guadalupe Mountains). Birds found in the Rocky Mountains of west central Canada south to west central USA are often separated as ssp. occidentalis. However, they are now by most authorities identified as race subarcticus.

ID: The largest-bodied subspecies of all. This pale form has a plumage that is essentially whitish with a faint creamy tinge on the upper plumage. The plumage below is variably barred blackish - from indistinct to heavily barred. The palest amongst them can be confused with young, female Snowy Owl. Their feet are whitish to buff.

Females maintain territories which may overlap somewhat, and males occupy larger territories covering those of several females.

The breeding season lasts from Late April to September. Females appear to prefer dominant males and may actively avoid other vagrant males. The gestation period averages 21 days, being longer if the female is still lactating from a previous litter. A litter can be up to ten pups but the average number is four to eight.

Females sometimes kill pups in burrows in adjoining territories and males sometimes kill pups before mating with their mother, perhaps as a tactic to ensure his offspring are advantaged.

The pups are naked and helpless and their eyes open at about nine days. They are weaned at 20 to 25 days and the females become sexually mature by six weeks with the males reaching maturity by eight weeks.

There may be up to four litters per year and as the youngsters start to breed, numbers quickly build up over the summer months.

John of Nepomuk (or John Nepomucene) (c. 1345 – 20 March 1393) was a saint of Bohemia (western Czech Republic) who was drowned in the Vltava river at the behest of King Wenceslaus IV of Bohemia. Later accounts state that he was the confessor of the queen of Bohemia and refused to divulge the secrets of the confessional. On the basis of this account, John of Nepomuk is considered the first martyr of the Seal of the Confessional, a patron against calumnies and, because of the manner of his death, a protector from floods and drowning. STEAM INCORPORATED

Formed fifty years ago in 1972 Steam Incorporated is based at Paekakariki on the Kapiti coast near Wellington, on the North Island of New Zealand, where its primary purpose is to rebuild and maintain heritage railway equipment to the high standard required for main-line operation.

As part of the organisation's 50th anniversary celebrations, they ran one of their Ja class steam locomotives, an Ab class locomotive, and a pair of heritage Diesels on a short section of track; for a 'fee' of $50, members of the Public could drive one of the locomotives during the three day weekend that has just concluded...!

The experience was in high demand...!!!

Ja 1271 AND ITS CLASS MATES

There is much that could be written about this Class of locomotive, but I'll limit myself to just two facts, namely:

1. there are numerous instances of this type of locomotive charging across the Plains of the South Island at sustained speeds of 70mph (112kph) or more while hauling the South Island Limited Express that consisted of ten carriages (or coaches, but remember: we're influenced by British terminology!),

and

2. for an engine with just 56 inch driving wheels, this resulted in a rotational speed of 360 revolutions a minute or 6 revolutions a second - quite an achievement for the 3 foot 6 inch track gauge and a locomotive, that by world standards, fell into the "mixed traffic" class...!

TODAY

Today, however, it was rather pleasant to just sit and enjoy the warm sun, to watch Ja 1271 trundle quietly down a short length of track, and to allow my imagination to take me back to the days when it and its Class mates stormed across the Plains of the South Island, white clag / exhaust streaming behind, driving rods a blur of high speed motion, and the noise on the footplate a cacophony of Sound...!

Sigh... Those were the days...!

Some of the above has been gathered from

The ostrich is a member of a group of birds known as Ratites. They are flightless birds without a keel to their breastbone. They are very fast runners and can maintain an average speed of 50 km/h. Of the 8,600 bird species which exist today, the ostrich is the largest. They weigh 100-135 kg and can cause serious injury and death with a kick from its powerful legs. The ostrich has a long, curving, predominantly white neck and very large eyes (50 mm). The beak is flat and broad with a rounded tip. They have long, bare legs and stand tall at an average height of about 2.1 m. The humped body of the male is covered in black patches and the wings and tail are tipped with white. The female is brown and white.

The ATLAS class Battle Carrier is the latest in the RZ fleet. Expanding on the previous innovations from previous iterations, this latest SHIP maintains the classic styling while updating it to the current battle spaces. Armed with 2 main rail guns, 4 missile tubes, 2 ion cannons, and 12 PDCs it has enough firepower to operate in the field of battle.

--

This is the tenth anniversary of SHIPtember and this was totally not the build I was planning.

The first year, I barely thought we would get ten people crazy enough to build a SHIP - let alone 10 years worth of freaking monsters building churning out SHIPs that inspire all of us.

Unfortunately I caught COVID at the beginning of the month and it took me 2+ weeks to recover to the point I could go back to touching LEGO. I had basically written off SHIPtember this year but was so inspired by all the builds I saw that I knew I had to build SOMETHING.

I threw away my original plan and went back to an idea I've had for almost 10 years.

Rob - dasnewten built one of the most incredible ships I have ever seen. even almost 10 years later: Promethus

IMHO it was one of the most influential LEGO builds in the community - it's vibe and styling has been replicated and iterated on by multiple 'LEGO generations'

The best iteration was by ZachMoe's's Epimetheus.

For this SHIPtember, I wanted to play 3rd fiddle and play SHIPtelephoneGame and continue the Prometheus and Epimetheus lineage by building it's biggest brother: Atlas.

It was a real fun opportunity to extend Zach's version - and stretch it out to 100 studs - keeping some of the original Rob vibes, with Zach's iterations and add some classic simon textures and GWEEBLES.

There's definitely something appropriate about revisiting one of the great builds of all time in the 10th SHIPtember and reminding us where we all came from, and the giants that inspired us to build this arbitrarily big 100 stud SHIPs.

"We're only here because you taught us the way" - some fictional character i just made up.
