Climbing the Tatoosh Range.

This is taken from a magic lantern slide produced by the Keystone View Co. of Meadville, Pennsylvania. It is titled, 3-27136: Electric Street Car, Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Canada. In spite of some fading and crazing on the slide, at the largest size this image gives an extraordinary impression of activity. There is little to indicate precisely the year, but I it appears to be the mid to late 1920s. The Fashion Craft building (McGreevy Block) appears still to be standing in the lot that was later (from 1930-31) to be occupied by the western extension of the Bank of Nova Scotia.

Originally American, rebuilt and lengthened in Newcastle in 1870. Purchased by ER Dix of Sunderland in 1897 before being sold on to Germany in 1923
