Well, not really magic, but rather milk thistle! It actually looks like a succulent in some respects. A very interesting plant for sure, and one that birds love to feast on later in the season when the thistle goes to seed. Best viewed large (L).

It was like a different world I saw
just in this part of the forest
where the beautiful hot sun was only here
as all the little bugs were flying into the sun's fire
everything in this part of the land was just glowing in such a way

Magic Of The Jack O Lanterns is a Fall event at Hudson Gardens, in which hundreds of carved pumpkins are placed all throughout in cute and fun displays. At night the pumpkins are all lit and you can walk through, but I haven't been yet.
