A couple of years ago, Ian Fleming wrote an article for Emulsive about using a modified 35mm film splicer to perforate unperforated 35mm film for use in 126 cameras. I have finally managed to replicate that. This is Agfa Aviphot ASP 400 S, sourced from macodirect.de, that I perforated myself and put into a Fakmatic 126 holder, then shot in one of my Kodak Instamatic 500s. Developed in Rodinal 1:25 for 10:30.

Billed as a special edition film to celebrate 100 years of the Rollei name, this black & white film is a bit of a mystery. With limited film development times and no word on where the film came from or the stock it's based on, it will make for an interesting review!

When it comes to fine grain films, there's really nothing you can do to bring the grain up, and while D-76 may not give the same razor sharp as one would think, it's still a fine developer for Ortho 25.

This roll surprised me; I wouldn't expect such amazing results with Infrared Film and HC-110, especially Dilution B! But it probably helped I gave the film a big pull to ASA-12, and it's Medium Format.

While not my favourite look for this film, Kodak D-76 does a decent job, no need to worry about grain with the pull to ASA-20, and you even don't lose that rich chrome feel about the images.

While you can only see the Orthochromatic nature of the film in some images, over all I didn't really like Ortho 25 with Rodinal, sure you get fine grain and razor sharp, but there's no drama to the film.

Nikon rocks down to electric avenue with their first dive into a semi-automatic electronic SLR with the Nikkormat EL. First released in 1972 as a direct response to the rise of semi-automatic SLRs being released elsewhere. The camera would eventually evolve into the Nikon FE later in the decade. A solid well built and familiar SLR that begs to be used.

I think TMax Developer actually made the film softer on the edges, gone are the razor sharp images from Rodinal, instead, a subtle shift, still sharp, but not in your face. It's a rather pleasing look.

In the case of RPX 400 and Kodak D-76, you end up with a solid baseline of how the film should look, and while there's nothing bad about the combo, nothing is surprising or exciting about them either, they look rather normal, and that can be a good thing.

When Rollei makes a compact 35mm camera they do it right, proven in the Rollei 35 lineup. Now, mine is a later Singapore model, but it still shines. However, that doesn't mean the camera is without its faults, it's incredibly frustrating to load, rewind, and the scale focus doesn't help. But when it does work, it's magic.

For an upcoming episode John provided the gang with some fourth-party M42 lenses to test out to see how well they actually worked. I'm rather impressed at how well the lens I ended up with, the Sun Auto 85-210mm f/4.8 turned out. I'm sure it would do better in a camera that could actually stop it down and I ended up shooting this wide open the whole time because Zenit E. Over all there's little to no fall off on the corners, a bit of flare if I wasn't careful. But lovely sharp lens.
