A plug for a vending machine, out in the open and unprotected.

I've come to really like the rowing machine at the gym. It reminds me of being on playground equipment when I was a kid. Whee! And it works so many muscles at the same time too. Legs, hips, belly, arms. Yet it's fun. I was trying to do more than 7 minutes which is what I did last time and managed to do a full 10 minutes which really made me pleased with myself for the effort.

In Busan's subway you can buy books from a vending machine. LIke about Oprah or Hillary Clinton or Che Guevara. An interesting selection.

THE SPECIAL PLAYER is a fully interactive environment. Involving a sophisticated responsive motion tracking technique, professional dancers, DJs and the public, THE SPECIAL PLAYER explores a massively disquieting conspirative narration revolutionizing the concept of augmented reality and sense of self.

HALF MACHINE artists collective work within interactive art installations, dance performance and concert events - complex collaborative art experiments involving the audience.

An international group of artists create large scale light- and water installations, aerial suspensions, pyrotechnics, high voltage labs and more from recycled materials and electronic wizardry.

The little fin on the left engages in the slots in the template on the right (to which the finger board is vacuum clamped). This ensures the fret slots are placed precisely.

The P-40 is probably the most recognizable of the Curtiss Aircraft Company’s designs. Developed from the P-36A in 1938 the P-40 was technologically inferior to the fighters then in production and development elsewhere in the world. However, it was ordered in large numbers by the U.S. Army and in smaller numbers by the British and French primarily because it could be built quickly and in large numbers using existing production lines. The P-40E model was upgraded with six wing mounted .50 caliber machine guns in place of the original four wing guns. The P-40 remained in production until 1944 and served throughout the war, despite being superseded by newer designs. Curtiss built a total of 13,738 aircraft, by far the largest production run of any Curtiss design. This aircraft has been reconstructed from the parts of several P-40s.

To help young people create interactive art, Pataphysical Studios taught a workshop on how to make your own ‘ art wonderbox.’ Our goal was to help kids create a cool experience with lights, motion and sounds, using simple electronic parts.

To that end, we invited 12 kids (ages 8 to 12) and their parents to this free workshop at the Mill Valley Library:

pataphysics.us/make-your-own-wonderbox/

This two-hour workshop took place on Saturday, October 17 at 2pm. In the course of two hours, we guided students through these tasks:

bit.ly/wonderbox-instructions-1

Instructors for this workshop were Fabrice Florin, Jean Bolte and Natalie Frederick, with support from Antonia Souza and Freddy Hahne. They are all members of Pataphysical Studios, the art collective behind the ‘Pataphysical Slot Machine’, our poetic oracle.

Come visit the exhibit this month! We’re open every Saturday and Sunday in October, from 1 to 5pm, in the downstairs conference room of the Mill Valley Library.

Special thanks to the Mill Valley Library and the Friends of the Library for making these workshops possible.

Goobang Jct.'s staff machine. Sure would like a few of those staffs when they're done with them!

We have a big bathroom but a small kitchen. So it makes sense to keep the washing machine in the bathroom. The trouble comes each time you need to replace the old machine.
