This is a machine for manufacturing stainless steel pipes.
The folks at Pano recommend not to take panoramatic pics from close distance. Sometimes, however, there is no room and u hv to try your luck.

A man entertains passerbys on West Morrison Street in Portland, Oregon. Painted silver, he stands as still as a statue until money is tossed into his bucket and then performs by rolling a glass sphere on his hands and forearm using machine like movements without speaking or moving his mouth. this was the last machine purchase of the day. it was calling my name when i walked by it. its in a bent wood top. it will eventually go on a treadle base also.

This almost makes me want to wash clothes the old way. It also explains why they limit the clothes they have.
If you look on wall there is a clothes line, they use it in winter to dry clothes indoors.
On Thursday, the 2nd day of La Machine, La Princesse was removed from Concourse Tower. She was placed on the back of a lorry and slowly transported through town. They struggled a little with all the speed bumps, often driving on the pavement. Eventually they reached the Albert Dock and everyone came out to see the giant spider. Typically just as they arrived a thunderstorm appeared and soaked everyone. We were greeted by Joseph Browning, a scientist with La Machine who explained what was going on. At night La Princesse was serenaded with music and rested in preparation for her big day.
Built circa 1910 by the Jereckie Manufacturing Company, Erie, PA, this integral steam machine was used to cut threads in iron pipes for water or steam.

I've done a bit of research and now know this machine was made by the Jones Sewing Machine company, based near Manchester. If you know any more details, I'd love to hear them! This was a gift from a friend, who either purchased it or it was gifted to him by someone else. It sat in their garage for a while, but seems to be in good working order -- it's a hand-cranked machine, after all!
My lovely boyfriend brought it home today (bringing my sewing machine tally to 3! Three in a studio apartment!) and said "I thought -- even if it doesn't work, we can clean it up and display it when we move next month" (see why I'm dating him, eh?)

Dollar$ for Deadbeat$ benefit gig at The 12 Bar, Denmark Street London on May 24th 2009.
Roger Rags Segal was left stranded in London when the Sorry & The Sinatras tour was cancelled so friends rallied round to help him out with living costs and beer money, Rich Jones of The Loyalties organised the gig in fine punk as rock style.
The Eureka Machines provided a short 'support' set before the newly formed and never rehearsed together 'Dollar$ for Deadbeat$' crammed onto the small stage for some sweaty punk rocking.
