What an extraordinary object. It was gigantic, the photo doesn't do it justice. Pink??? Way back in my childhood memories I have a very vague feeling I've seen something like this actually out in the fields. A bit more modern but not much. We lived next to a bunch of farmland from when I was five.

For most conspicuous bravery and self-sacrifice displayed, when, owing to casualties, Pte. Columbine took over command of a gun and kept it firing from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. in an isolated position with no wire in front. During this time wave after wave of the enemy failed to get up to him. Owing to his being attacked by a low-flying aeroplane the enemy at last gained a strong footing in the trench on either side. The position being untenable he ordered the two remaining men to get away, and, though being bombed from either side, kept his gun firing and inflicting tremendous losses. He was eventually killed by a bomb which blew up him and his gun. He showed throughout the highest valour, determination and self-sacrifice.
Thought I'd have a go at a HDR shot of a mine machine I saw in Cripple Creek, Colorado. I have no idea what this bit of equipment did, but I thought the yellow looked kind of cool against the drab field.
I bought this machine at Goodwill today for $3.50!! It was in a case also. It is pretty dirt and is missing the bobbin case, but it powered up and the light works. It will need a god bath and a new belt and then I'll test it out! I love the color!
This looks like a B/W with selective color but is not. I added a B/W layer and changed the blend mode to multiply and this is the result. Kind of liked it so kept it as is
La Machine on the Saturday. The morning turned out to be a little disappointing. A few thousand people turned out to hear some music. La Princesse didn’t do anything but sit there in the fake snow. Nice to look at but a shame for those people. Later she did wake up and went for a walk around town. I originally planned to be in the crowd but I came out the station on Water St and the crowd was insane. I didn’t like the idea of battling through to get a few quick photos so I was able to get on top of the town hall. From there the view of the crowd was simply insane.
