I abruptly start on a new series. Perhaps this series is the sequel to "From the drifting islands" and I may continuously upload "Passion" too.

A slightly different view to the outside tree filled area.

I really can't say what inspired, or maybe possessed, me to take this photo. I think that it was the vibrant color and size of the machinery contrasting against a monotone, snow and ice covered parking lot. We have been and will continue to be lacking color until spring. Anyway, that is one big tire!!!

Comments are welcome. Happy Wednesday!

Me and the boy stopped at this mining area (they mine for chalk around these parts) and meandered looking at the cool big hole that they have dug and the machinery that they used to dig it... well, this is my favorite shot from the visit...and by the way, i didnt notice the little visitor shooting across the sky until i opened and started process, sometimes a treat just shoots across the sky....

To see through the invisible machinery working in our society…

This is pretty much the back end of my Waterholes Hut — and onwards — recce. Sure, there was that little incident where some bikers stopped in the middle of the track and decided to unzip their leathers and, ahem, admire the scenery, without the presence of mind to consider how much damage an oncoming vehicle would do to more than just their egos.

See those trees over to the right; behind the crest? They are over the border. Just here the border is the watershed. There's another fire trail running along the fence line up there and that's the way I came in before dropping back down onto my intended path once past these big toys. The operators left a long while ago, so now this way was safe. I imagine their clock off time was at the depot, not here. They say we have a productivity problem. I can't imagine where!

I hope to be back one day. I'm sure there'll be plenty to do in the meantime. Until then, I'm content this way is as easy, straightforward and rewarding as I expected.

The Panama Canal. The United States took over the project in 1904 and opened the canal on August 15, 1914.This backhoe was bought from a Mining Co. from there and shipped it Nederland, Colorado which is 1015 miles from the west coast if you go through Los Vegas but that's Highway and I bet this took the train.

Mining has played a major role in the development of the Boulder area-- from the coal mining in the Coal Creek and Rock Creek drainage's to the hard rock mines and mills along Middle Boulder Creek and Left Hand and James Creeks. By 1920 most mine operations were shut down due to shifts in the global metals market, but some small-scale mining operations continue today in the Boulder area.

I met up with former flickr member Rod the other day. We had a great time catching up and exploring Oshawa, a city with natural conservation areas, industries, residences, farms and rivers!

Old truck just sitting there along Hwy 37 just north of Novato, California. I'm pretty sure it's a 1930's vintage Chrysler.
