Rods, eccentrics, valve gear, wheels and the rest of Santa Fe No. 2912's beautiful machinery still seem magnificent in afternoon light despite the fact that her firebox hasn't been lit in decades.

Summerlee is the museum of Scottish industrial life and is based around the site of a 19th century ironworks
The National Slate Museum is located at Gilfach Ddu, the 19th-century workshops of the now disused Dinorwic quarry, within the Padarn Country Park, Llanberis, Gwynedd. The museum is dedicated to the preservation and display of relicts of the Slate industry in Wales
Machinery on an old railway bridge across an old Welland Canal. I'm not sure what the machinery was used for, it doesn't look like a lift bridge, there are some on the current canal, maybe it was a swing bridge that rotated around a center aI was more interested in shapes and colours while I was shooting and didn't give much thought to the mechanics until later.

Shot in April 2007 with a Sony P&S. This farm land is along the Gaspereau River Road in Melanson on the way from what is now Luckett and Gaspereau Vineyards. Most of the trees in this orchard were cut down and the machine was hauled away several years ago now. There's a house in this spot now.
The Sony camera was a replacement for an Olympus P&S ultrazoom I had before. These were the days prior to me getting a DSLR.
Full of steam engines in all their varying forms .. many in motion , quietly working away with the odd hiss and a puff of steam now and again . fascinating stuff ..
