Here's my truck with its new boots. Thanks again, and I can't wait to try 'em in the snow.

SWEET CALL AND RESPONSE
By Steve MacDonald and Dana F. Smith
2012, San Francisco, California
edition of 25
Sweet Call and Response was developed with an emphasis on experimentation with the materials - digital printing on canvas, photo collage, machine sewn thread, and sewn collage.
Instinctively, messages are sent to attract a response. This book is a visual poem about communication through the interplay of universal symbols and photographic images.
The book is printed entirely on canvas specially coated for digital printing with pigmented inks. A variety of sewing techniques, such as patchwork and embroidery, are applied to the pages over the ink. Each page of the book is treated with meticulous stitching executed by hand using a home sewing machine. Pages are affected on both sides by the stitching. Inverse images create a visual echo woven into the design of the book, which propels the narrative ever forward.

I found this very strange, it is a cigarette vending machine on the street. I am assuming you need to pay via credit-card so they can attempt to prove your age.

I'm reminded of a music video I saw recently where a factory worker kept seeing the robots from the factory coming after him menacingly, and no one else could see them.

Day 1 with my new Riso and already had to perform some reasonably intense repairs to the scanner unit due to some sloppy packing by the original seller. But it all turned out well and my confidence in Riso repairs went up a notch or two.

This was actually built for the MocAthlon earlier in the year, but I procrastinated, and never put the videos together into the movie and yeah...
This sewing machine dates to 1918. I know, because I still have the original manual. It belonged to my grandmother, my mother, and now me. Grandma was married in 1920, and she sewed all her own clothes on this machine. My mother and father were married in 1944, and about that time Grandma got one of those new-fangled electric machines and passed this on to my mother. I learned to sew on this machine, and used it to make all of my own clothes until I graduated from high school. My high school graduation gift was a "new-fangled" electric machine. In my family, sewing machines were considered a necessity. Grandmother and mother sewed all of their own clothes. Back in those days you saved a lot of money by making your own clothes. I continued the tradition until my daughters were young and I discovered that I could buy clothes and cheaply as I could make them. Mom got a new electric machine when I got mine, but she continued to use this machine for heavy duty work until shortly before she passed away. I don't use it anymore, but it has a special place in my house and in my heart.

I have lived in Peoria, Illinois for almost seven years now and, until this summer, have never been to Springdale Cemetary, the oldest and largest cemetary in town. There have been numerous photowalks and outings there over the years, but I've never been able to go. With that in mind, I decided to take a drive/walk through one summer evening right around sunset.
With my fascination for abandoned and "left alone" objects, I thought the graveyard was the perfect place to shoot and I'm very happy with the way these came out. I will say that the end of the evening wasn't as joyous as I got lost after dark driving around the far end of the cemetery. I definitely creeped myself out, but I made it out alive.

Wait a minute, Mike! This looks nothing like Springdale Cemetery! True. But it is!
I took a quick job around the maintenance shed and ran across this earth mover. The urban and industrial a subject is, the more I love it and, with a little faux-lomo treatment, the grunge really pops on this. I also threw a little desaturation on it as well... didn't want that yellow to get too bright!
