- Unfortunately the news are not the best but we can not give up Timekeeper. Sometimes I feel trapped in a labyrinth of doubts Athena ... without being able to help myself - Says Lady Of Elche with an air of apprehension as she stares at that strange old statue in the corner of the room.

- Not quite, Lady of Elche, my dear Hannya your coming here has a purpose, just like that statue of the Sphinx of Argus on your right side - Says Athena to her mystic sister in order to comfort her and goes on :

- Incidentally, on this mission, she can be a strong ally in this odyssey!

So I've decided to start a new collection of little scenes based on the kings and queens of Scotland. I spend a lot of of time building big models, so the idea is to give myself something to do that's generally quick, fun and easy. I'm inspired by James Pegrum's series on the kings and queens of England, which I think are a really neat way of covering a county's history.

So first up is the apparent first King of Scots, Kenneth MacAlpin, who reigned between 843 and 858. Describing Kenneth’s life is difficult because so much is wrapped up in myth and revision, however all subsequent Scottish monarchs claimed descent from him and as such, the current British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II is descended from him through Malcolm III, Robert the Bruce and James VI and I.

In 839 a succession crisis rose in the Pictish Kingdom of Fortriu, which is often referred to synonymously with Pictland in general, when King Uen son of Óengus, his brother Bran, Áed mac Boanta and other notable members of the dynasty were killed in battle against the Vikings. This situation resulted in at least four would-be kings warring for supreme power.

Kenneth's reign is dated from 843, but it was probably not until 848 that he defeated the last of his rivals for power. Little detail is known of his reign, although a few sources offer some insight. In 849 he had the relics of Saint Columba, which may have included the Monymusk Reliquary, transferred from Iona to Dunkeld. Apparently he also invaded Anglo-Saxon lands six times, capturing Melrose and burning Dunbar.

Kenneth died on 13th February 858 at the palace of Cinnbelachoir, which is thought to have been near Scone. He left at least two sons, Constantine and Áed, who were later kings, and at least two daughters.

Preveli Lake Crete.

After the fire, which for several years burned many endemic palm trees in Crete in the place of Lake Preveli, some trees became like heroes of ancient myths!

I wonder what it will be like, if dragon comes to live!

Whatever you believe about unicorns, they hold a magical place in history. This is another pic taken the day I took "knight rider", just another angle of the same horse. I couldn't help but think he would make a beautiful unicorn so I played with it and this is the finished product! A lot of fun to create this mystical look! Textures by alicepopkorn - thanks!!!

Myth & Mystery

The legend of the Schwedagon Pagoda begins with two Burmese merchant brothers who met the Buddha himself. The Buddha gave them eight of his hairs to be enshrined in Burma. With the help of several nat (spirits) and the king of this region of, the brothers discovered the hill where relics of previous Buddhas had been enshrined.

Legend has it that the Shwedagon Pagoda is 2,500 years old, but archaeologists estimate it was first built by the Mon sometime between the 6th and 10th centuries (i.e. during the Bagan period). The pagoda emerges from legend into history in 1485, which is the date of an incription near the top of the eastern stairway that tells the story of Shwedagon in three languages (Pali, Mon, and Burmese).

Of the sarcophagi, the most impressive is the sarcophagus illustrating the myth of Athena, Marsyas, and Apollo (Rome, ca. AD200). Athena invents the aulos (double-reed flute) but playing it distorts her beauty. The satyr Marsyas found it and played it well but lost in a play-off against the god Apollo, who played the lyre (as may still be seen on the left), ending with Marsyas being skinned alive (far right).

In the Sculpture Collection (Skulpturensammlung) of the Liebieghaus Museum in Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Pygmalionism, (from the myth of Pygmalion) which describes a state of love for an object of one's own creation.

Pygmalionism is a love attraction to a statue, doll, mannequin...

Pygmalion was a legendary figure of Cyprus. Though Pygmalion is the Greek version of the Phoenician royal name Pumayyaton, he is most familiar from Ovid's Metamorphoses, X, in which Pygmalion is a sculptor who falls in love with a statue he has made.

In Ovid's narrative, Pygmalion was a Cypriot sculptor who carved a woman out of ivory. He called that statue Galatea ("she who is milk-white") According to Ovid, after seeing the Propoetides prostituting themselves, he is 'not interested in women', but his statue is so realistic that he falls in love with it. He offers the statue presents and eventually prays to Venus (Aphrodite). She takes pity on him and brings the statue to life. They marry and have a son... happy end...

It was commonly rumored in Roman times that Praxiteles' Aphrodite of Knidos, the cult image in her temple was so beautiful that at least one admirer arranged to be shut in with it overnight...

In a human life sometimes the love has no happy end: John loves Mary, Mary loves Steve, Steve loves Kathy, and...

long line in an end of which may be somebody loves John... may be in a next life...

So... be creative. Make an art. Pray to God, look for your Galatea in your creations and... be happy.

A modern version of the myth of Marie Magdalena.

In conjunction with elements of eva in paradise and the pope.

The church tells your story. But this is the truth?

Who are you really? The wife of jesus? Or even the holy grail?

The truth will probably remain hidden forever. But should they reveal the humanity in general?
