I prefer the mystic clouds of nostalgia to the real thing, to be honest.

Here is yet another photo from a very productive trip with Lucie last June. This is taken late evening on a unusually moist day here in Iceland. The moist of the day had transformed into this mystic fog as the air cooled in the evening.
It wasn´t that foggy when we arrived but the fog grew thicker and thicker and the scene changed rapidly as we where shooting.
Taken near Hvolsvöllur in south Iceland. Here you can see Lucie´s angle to the exact same scene.

The Mystic River Bascule Bridge is a bascule bridge spanning the Mystic River in Mystic, Connecticut in the United States. It carries vehicle and foot traffic directly into the tourist district of town via 33 ft-wide (10 m) Main Street (U.S. Route 1)
The Strauss Heel-trunnion type bridge was designed by former Otis Elevator Company Chief Engineer Thomas Ellis Brown of New York and built in 1920 by the J. E. FitzGerald Construction Company of New London, Connecticut, according to its historical marker. Its movable span is 85 ft (26 m) wide, 218 ft (66 m) long, weighs 660 short tons (589 long tons; 599 t), and employs two 230 short tons (205 long tons; 209 t) concrete-filled counterweights. Until 1928, the bridge carried streetcars of the Groton and Stonington Street Railway.
It is operated by the Connecticut Department of Transportation and opens for approximately five minutes around 2,200 times per year, carrying an average daily traffic of 11,800. It is driven by two 1,400 pounds (640 kg) 40 horsepower (30 kW) direct current motors, and its span is greased and inspected every 100 openings or two weeks during the winter. From May 1 to October 31, the bridge opens hourly during daylight at 40 minutes past the hour and on demand

Amo la nebbia, sa coprire i dettagli inutili delle cose e fa proiettare il pensiero nel luogo dove deve risiedere, dentro noi stessi. Amo la nebbia, perché è così introspettiva!

CSXT local B721 crosses the Draw 7 bridge over the Mystic River crossing from Somerville into Everrett. This is MP 2.22 on the former Boston and Maine now MBTA/Keolis Eastern Route mainline. CSXT has trackage rights over this route as a legacy from when predecessor Boston and Albany maintained a parallel route here before swinging off towaes the the East Boston docks.
The Framingham based local is headed to Chelsea and Everett with a gondal load for Schnitzer Northeast and a cut of UP reefers for the Boston Produce Market CSXT's eastern most customers. In less than a year CSXT would be gone from this trackage and would contract with Pan Am to handle their business via the daily Pan Am train from Selkirk through Worcester to Ayer. But perhaps if the merger goes through CSXT will be back here again...

When I was visiting my sister in Connecticut, we went to Mystic - a small seaside village with lots of New England charm!

"Weather is a great metaphor for life — sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and there's nothing much we can do about it but carry an umbrella or choose to dance in the rain." ~Terri Guillemets
Five out of ten days we spent in Yellowstone we had a combination of rain, snow, fog, sleet, and graupel with intermittent periods of clearing. Of course, this made it difficult to capture any decent wildlife shots but didn't stop me from taking advantage of the opportunity for some atmospheric shots like this one from the Thunderer trail early one morning as we were coming into the park. I was having a field day with the fog while Mike kept reminding me, "you know this is the spot where the grizzlies use all the dead trees for scratching posts."

From the Stonington, Connecticut side of the Mystic River, pointing towards the Groton, Connecticut side.
A mystical mountain scenery where the clouds hang low over the peaks. A narrow path leads into the landscape, accompanied by a gentle stream of water. The atmosphere feels serene yet mysterious – as if nature is revealing a hidden world full of quiet magic.
