After Midland Red took over Green Bus of Rugeley they operated buses out to Uttoxeter but the service later passed to Potteries and for a while in the Eighties there was a service from Stafford all the way to Cheadle. At that garage as well as short Leopards there was the odd dual-purpose Bristol RE like 211.

This year's Avison Ensemble Young Musicians' Awards 2018 Finals was held on Saturday 10 March 2018 at the Literary and Philosophical Society, Newcastle.
The Awards assessors heard sixteen soloist finalists for the four categories of Grades 1-3, Grades 4 - 6, Grades 7 and 8, and Grade 8 and above, and one ensemble.
The Awards were set up in 2006 to encourage young musical talent across the North East Region. The annual Awards is not a music competition but rather an opportunity for young players to perform in front of a live audience and to receive encouragement and support from professional musicians. The entrants to the Awards receive tuition and guidance, as well as important encouragement to continue their musical education. Everyone taking part in this event is given the same expert advice and assessments. The finalists are also assessed on their talents for live performance.
This year’s guest assessor was Duncan Brown who is well known in the North East as a composer and arranger of music for choirs, the theatre and the concert hall, as well as a creator of new instruments and as a choir conductor.
We’re grateful to the Heritage Lottery Fund for supporting this year’s Awards as part of our Charles Avison Workbook project. The support of the HLF also enabled us to show one of Avison’s original manuscript Workbooks as part of the event. The Avison Ensemble is the outstanding period instrument orchestra based in Newcastle upon Tyne, which plays and popularises the music of Charles Avison (1709-1770) and other English classical composers of the Baroque period, such as Garth, Arne and Herschel. The Ensemble also performs Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi, Corelli, Geminiani, Pergolesi, Teleman, Rameau, Bach, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven.
