This Vespa was painted and decorated as a "Mod" window display for the MTV network in Chicago - 1996.

MTV used to be all about music, but not anymore. MTV is one of the leading stations showing show about teens and sex. They have been a big contributor to sexual behaviors.

Being an extra at the MTV Beach House was cool - you got to hang around the pool and the beach all day, and while you didn't get paid, you got free unlimited Snapple and lots of pizza. Plus you occasionally got to appear on camera with the talent.

Material digitally patterned nylon fabric
LAVA designed the ‘MTV’ installation specifically for the MTV Awards 2009. Suspended in the Sydney Convention Centre, spanning 35m to 24m, the sculpture provides an intense visual environment for the global TV show.
The installation was fast tracked (5 weeks, 3 hours to install on site) to meet open for the MTV Awards Ceremony 2009 that was televised to an audience of millions around the globe.
MTV Design Stage is a digital design, derived from nature, realized in lightweight fabric, using the latest digital fabrication and engineering techniques, to create more with less. Comprised of 108m3 of space is enclosed within a minimal surface area of 568m2 and uses only (568m2*0.2kg/m2=113.6kg) of lightweight material.
Works by Graphic Designer TOKO and programmer/animator Robyn Pyon we developed graphics that could projected according to each musical performance as well as creating an overall atmosphere.
Tensile Membrane Company Mak Max, the engineers and fabricators of the sculpture have developed a unique workflow from digital design to Digital Fabrication of complex shapes.
The installation was fast tracked (5 weeks, 3 hours to install on site) to meet open for the MTV Awards Ceremony 2009 that was televised to an audience of millions around the globe.

Palo Alto Fire Department responded to a two alarm fire at a residence on Loma Verde Ave following a fire that started in the rear garage/auto shop of a very crowded house. The resident was reluctant to leave feeling he had the situation under control, despite the rear of the premises being fully engulfed in flames. He was eventually rescued from the premises and transported to hospital. The fire had unusually large amounts of fuel both inside and outside the building, with neighboring houses very close to the structure there was a significant exposure threat.
Nearby Mountai9n view Fire Department responded their Truck 1 as part of the second alarm assignment. MTV Truck 1 is a 2009 Pierce Quantum dual axle tiller pulling a 103' aerial tiller.
