i was cleaning the trailer tonight (i work in a mobile MRI unit) and as i was shutting down the room with the magnet i saw the tube still had the light on inside. it was too pretty to not take a photo of.

The MRI is one of the cameras we use at the hospital to take pictures of your inside. We think it looks like a HUGE donut or even a snow fort.

右膝关节磁共振（MRI）造影和放射学诊断：
1、右侧股骨内侧髁骨髓水肿。
2、右膝关节退变，骨质增生，半月板轻度变性，髌上囊、关节腔内少量积液。
具体情由和治疗还有待骨科医生诊断，不过最起码，关节水肿本就麻烦，而“半月板轻度变性”更是不可捉摸。至少一个月内我别想再跑步了。未知这条腿，还能否让我“有多远走多远”？2011年多艰，只有真诚面对。

Op 24 juli 2014 is de 32 duizend kilo zware magneet van een 7 Tesla scanner, de vierde in Nederland, op zijn plaats getakeld in de nieuwbouw van het Spinoza Centre for Neuroimaging in Amsterdam Zuidoost. De ultrahoog veld MRI-scanner, die vanaf november 2014 in gebruik wordt genomen, zal neurowetenschappers meer inzicht geven in de werking van de hersenen en hersenaandoeningen.

This animation was created from MRI scans made of my brain that were taken on May 13 2014 at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore. I was recruited to be one of the healthy participants in a research project studying brain functionality.
Some time ago, I built a Lego MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) system as a giveaway for a pediatric radiologist. A minifig gets a scan.
In addition the toy was CT scanned.
Here is the result of the scan:
Following the broken toe last spring, I apparently overdid it in the upper body sports in an over zealous attempt to keep in shape. Notice the two bulges in the dark bands just below center- those are disks in my neck, the C5/6 and C6/7 gaps between the vertebrae. They are slightly herniated and causing a problem. This shot is from an MRI (that was loads of fun (not). Front is to the left.
I get to go through a few months of phyiscaly therapy to stretch the neck a bit to relieve pressure and let it heal naturally. It's apparently mild, but they were at one point pressing on the spinal cord.
On the upside- the toe is healed and I can run and bike, though I am now being careful not to overdo that so I don't cause yet another injury! :)
