Mount Sunday, site of Edoras in "The Lord of the Rings," rises out of the plain. Mountains in the background had more snow in the movie. Glaciers carved the valley during the last ice age, but couldn't move the solid granite outcropping.

Mount Congreve is an 18th century Georgian estate and mansion situated near the village of Kilmeaden in County Waterford, Ireland. The architect was John Roberts, a Waterford-based architect who subsequently designed and built most of the 18th-century public buildings in Waterford, including both cathedrals. The House is situated close to the Southern bank of the River Suir approximately 7 kilometres from Waterford City. It overlooks County Kilkenny to the North. t is about 4 klms from my home.

The late Ambrose Congreve, who passed away in 2011 aged 104, greatest passion was gardening, and at Mount Congreve, he established gardens of world renown, noted especially for their magnificent displays of flowering woodland plants. The collection of rhododendrons that he built up there is one of the largest in the world. The gardens are open to the public free of charge on Thursday and are a real hidden treat. The gardens have been willed to the Irish State.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is centered on a colossal sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore (Lakota: Tȟuŋkášila Šákpe, or Six Grandfathers) in the Black Hills near Keystone, South Dakota. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum created the sculpture's design and oversaw the project's execution from 1927 to 1941 with the help of his son, Lincoln Borglum. The sculpture features the 60-foot (18 m) heads of Presidents George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919) and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865), as recommended by Borglum. The four presidents were chosen to represent the nation's birth, growth, development and preservation, respectively.
