Unchained Melody
(Lyrics)
Woah, my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me
Lonely rivers flow
To the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea, yeah
Lonely rivers sigh
"Wait for me, wait for me"
I'll be coming home, wait for me
Woah, my love, my darling
I've hungered, hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me

Some girls, feel best in their tiny dresses
Some girls, nothin' but sweatpants, looking like a princess
Some girls, kiss new lips every single night
They're stayin' out late 'cause they just celebrating life
You know some days you feel so good in your own skin
But it's okay if you wanna change the body that you came in
'Cause you look greatest when you feel like a damn queen
We're all just playing a game in a way, tryna win at life
Most girls are smart and strong and beautiful
Most girls, work hard, go far, we are unstoppable
Most girls, our fight to make every day
No two are the same
I wanna be like, I wanna be like most girls
Some girls, like to keep their physique real private
Some girls, wear jeans so tight 'cause it feels so right, yeah
Some girls, every day searching, keep the page turning
Sleepin' in late 'cause they just celebrating life
You know some days you feel so good in your own skin
But it's okay if you wanna change the body that you came in
'Cause you look greatest when you feel like a damn queen
We're all just playing a game in a way, tryna win at life

Most girls, work hard, go far, we are unstoppable

This is one of the most unique AND creepy windows I have ever seen. It is in the Capela dos Ossos, in Evora, Portugal. The Chapel was built as an extension to the Convent of Sao Francisco in the first half of the 17th Century. The Chapel is an invitation to reflect on the transitory nature of the human condition. An inscription over the entrance to the Chapel translated to English reads, "We bones here, for yours await."
Happy(?) Window Wednesday!
Most people go here for the eastbound (southbound) shot, and I'd get it a few minutes later, but the westbound shot isn't bad either. Here's westbound T209 entering the Pikeville cut-through on last Tuesday (10/13/20). Trees continue their endless march.
1936 Bugatti Atlantic Type 57SC
Most expensive car in the world, this Bugatti sold in 2010 for an estimated $38 - 40 million dollars to Peter Mullin of the Mullin Auto Museum, Oxnard, CA.
Only three Bugatti Atlantic's (a fourth is disputed) were produced. One was destroyed in a train wreck, the other is in the private collection of Ralph Lauren.

being knowledgeable is essential, because, to me, nothing appears quite so difficult as to pose a model well and light him correctly, for the very reason that it seems so simple to do.
In the interest of photography and photographers I cannot urge amateurs enough to understand that photography is not a trade but an art and that, as a consequence, their feeling and their knowledge must be reflected in their works just as the feeling of a painter is reflected in his paintings :-)

Jvari Monastery is one of the most iconic in Georgia. This ancient temple dates back to the 6th century AD. It was built at the dawn of the adoption and spread of Christianity in Georgia. The name of the church is translated from Georgian as “the cross” and has its own history. According to the legend, the cross of St. Nino, one of the most revered saints who converted Georgia to Christianity, is kept here. After some time, a temple was built on the site of the holy cross, which later became the basis of the present Jvari.
The Jvari temple is located nearby the ancient capital of Georgia, Mtskheta, on the top of a high mountain, from where picturesque views of the neighborhood open, at the intersection of stormy waters of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. The temple attracts thousands of tourists because of its architecture, location and historical value. Exterior and interior decorations of the temple are made in simple, and we can say quite austere forms. Unlike most Orthodox churches, Jvari is beautiful with its simplicity, rigor and clarity of lines. According to the structure, the temple is classified as serial, or tetraconch. Inside the temple right in the center under the dome on a stone pedestal, stands the impressive wooden cross, decorated with inscriptions and carvings. The exterior facades of the temple are decorated with simple, and at the same time expressive bas-reliefs.
To the top of the mountain where the temple stands, lead two ways: a new asphalt road for cars, and a path through which people used to climb up to the sanctuary from time immemorial. The trail begins at the highway. Climbing up along it until about the middle, you can come across a spring with holy water which is believed to appear thanks to the prayers of St. Nino. This water is considered to be curative and miraculous. The temple of Jvari went through a long and difficult journey of one and a half thousand year’s length along with the Georgian people, experienced hardships and difficulties, becoming a symbol of faith for Georgia.
January.
January gets a bad rap. Yeah.... the holidays that most people look forward to are over... the next paid holiday (at least in my world) is Memorial Day! Most of us have eaten our way through the holidays and have now made ridiculous resolutions about losing weight, exercising and getting healthy... along with numerous other resolutions that rarely survive the first month of the year. It's cold. It's dark.... it's dark when we get up and dark when we get out of work. It's like an endless Monday.... (well, for most people... I, personally love Mondays, so that's not really how I feel!) ... 31 days straight of
Mondays for everyone else. And speaking of Mondays... and survival... here's another fun fact (almost as fun as the one about owls eating the heads off of pheasants).... The third Monday of January is regarded as the most depressing day of the year. It actually has the highest suicide rate of any other day of the year. Yup.... did you know that? And it's coming.... I'm going to survive Monday... because, hey! it's my favorite day of the week... now, Tuesday... that's another story altogether.
Anyway.... there are good things about January. It's a "catch up" month. We get to do things that we didn't have time to do because we were prepping for the holidays. It's dark... so we get to come home from work and put pajamas on at 7:00 (some of us are even asleep by 7:30!!) So, we get to catch up on sleep. It's cold... so we get to use wool.... wool blankets, wool scarves, wool sweaters, wool fingerless gloves. I love wool. Oh...and we get to wear many layers... which hide the extra pounds that have been added due to all of the chocolate covered goodies that appeared in the kitchen at work during all of December. It's cold and dark... so it gives us an excuse to curl up under blankets, with a good book, and go to sleep early. And if there's something you are supposed to do, that you don't want to.... you can pray for snow to get out of it... or just use the excuse... it's too cold. And if you do go out, like when I go to Waterloo Village every day...you have the place all to yourself (because it's cold... and it's dark!!) ... but having the place all to myself... PERFECT!! Just the way I like it! There... don't you feel better already? Yeah, I have no problem with January, and it's almost over anyway (although I have several other things to whine and complain about that aren't even close to being over... ugh)
Most often my method is a simple attention to God combined with a general sense of hunger for God. I find myself often attached to God with the great sweetness and delight of an infant at the mother's breast. I hesitate to use the expression, but the inexpressible sweetness which I taste and experience there is as if I were at the bosom of God at all times. Sometimes my thoughts wander away from God by necessity or infirmity. But soon an inner desire brings me back to God. This inward yearning is so delightful and delicious that I am ashamed to describe it.

I Most days I wake up with a pit in my chest
There are thoughts that I can't put to rest
There's a worry that I can't place
Most nights, I am restless and quiet won't come
So I lay there and wait for the sun
There's a trouble that won't show its face
You came out of nowhere
And you cut through all the noise
I make sense to the madness
When I listen to your voice
Darling, only you can ease my mind
Help me leave these lonely thoughts behind
When they pull me under,
And I can feel my sanity start to unwind
Darling, only you can ease my mind

How you may ask, can something be "most natural"?
Well, they say "Nature abhors a straight line." I dare you to find a straight line in this gnarly old oak.

Dettifoss is Europe's most powerful waterfall, located in the Vatnajökull National Park in the north-east of Iceland. Usually run over by tourists, we went there at 2am at night where we had the whole waterfall to ourselves. My friend John is standing at the cliff to take close up shots, while I was further away and taking shot with a long lens. He was so excited taking shots, repositioning himself, and taking more shots. I had a hard time catching up repositioning my camera from far away. For a brief moment he stood still, and I got this shot, which indicates the scale of Dettifoss.

Il più bello dei mari
è quello che non navigammo.
Il più bello dei nostri figli
non è ancora cresciuto.
I più belli dei nostri giorni
non li abbiamo ancora vissuti.
E quello
che vorrei dirti di più bello
non te l'ho ancora detto.

Most people seem concerned with the gators on Armand Bayou. I'm more concerned with sinking into the mud if I turtle in that shallow water. Apparently not an issue for the Greater Yellowlegs, as it had no problem launching from the exposed mudflat across from Bay Area Park in Pasadena, Texas.
Most likely Chrysis ignita. Doing that run around then stop for 1/10 of a second, fidget, and run off again thing they do. Such a hard wasp to shoot.

Most of the time, the pelicans by the lake fish together, but this time, the one on the right decided to separate itself to the group. A few minutes later, it came up with this HUGE catfish! When the rest of the group noticed what was going on, they decided to join and wanted to have their share! Finally, it tilted it's long neck upward and swallowed the evidence!

Most think a hawk hunts and kills from above, but this hawk uses a different technique. This hunter works its way among low bushes, hunting inside the bushes, under them, whatever it takes.
While most Americans were having their Thanksgiving turkey, I sat on a tree stump watching a flock of wild turkeys in a tree, eating bittersweet berries. I talked to them, telling how beautiful they were and also how lucky they were as millions of their cousins were being cooked and eaten at that moment. I swear these birds, not recognized aesthetically pleasing by many people, know me after countless encounters. They won't run or fly away but rather continue foraging like I was never there!

Castel Jezeří near Most
Jezeří (German: Eisenberg) is a castle converted into a chateau, located on the slopes of the Krušné Mountains in the Most district of the Ústí nad Labem region. It is located approximately twelve kilometers southwest of the town of Litvínov in the cadastral territory of the settlement of Jezeří, which is a local part of Horní Jiřetín. The chateau stands directly above the ČSA Quarry, less than 500 meters from its edge.
At the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, the mining front of the ČSA open-pit brown coal quarry began to approach the foot of the tectonically disturbed crystalline structure of the Krušné Mountains and later exposed it directly in many places. The original concept of mining development considered the quarry to advance along the slopes of the Krušné Mountains in an eastern direction to the central part of the coal basin and the complete coalification of the seam in the Vysoká Pec – Albrechtice area. As a result of the expansion of brown coal mining in the ČSA Quarry, the Jezeří arboretum was damaged and a number of villages in the landscape below the castle disappeared (Jezeří, Albrechtice, Dřínov, etc.). In the 1980s, demolition of the castle was planned.
Since the 1970s and 1980s, extensive exploration work has been carried out in connection with coal mining, during which a complicated tectonic faulting of the basin edge and the adjacent slope of the Ore Mountains with the Jezeří castle was discovered. The surveys have shown that the castle rests on a block of intact crystalline rock, which in simplified terms represents a wedge, which is separated from the Ore Mountains massif on both sides by significant fault zones. Since there was a concern that if coal was mined in the area under the castle, the stability of the rock block would be disrupted and the castle would be damaged, the mining plans were revised and in 1991 a protective zone for the set of cultural monuments in Jezeří was established, which defined the extent of the protective pillar of unmined coal at the foot of the slope. The first plans for the restoration of the monument began to emerge in 1986, but only the most necessary repairs were carried out.
The Lobkovic family acquired the castle back in restitution in 1991, but due to the high costs necessary for the reconstruction, they donated it to the state in 1996. The castle is cared for by the National Heritage Institute, a regional expert institution in Ústí nad Labem. Gradual reconstruction of the buildings is underway
The Lee A Tregurtha is one of the most interesting lake boats still in service.
