I finally collected my mosaic made for me by my sister. Cool, huh?
In the foreground is my card holder - a clay sculpture of made by my son of his own hand. I have such a talented family!
I was trying to get this finished in time for the Grand Opening Reception tomorrow night but that won't happen. Hopefully I can complete it and take it to the gallery this weekend.
The frame shop did a great job with the frame. It really shows up well on the front door. So happy they like it.

This is the last step before I grout. I want their halos to be beautiful. I painted the substrate gold, and glued gold glitter to it. Onward to the next step tonight...
This shot is the only one without flash disturbance. Same name but with a Jamaican twang! Gig Saturday , grout Sunday! looking forward to getting my hands dirty with this one.

This is a bright and lively mosaic tile set that was made from new and vintage china. I've also added a band of malachite beads to complete the arrangement. Please note, I'm not sure if these are genuine malachite or faux.

Sicis and other irridescent glass tile; 12” x 12”
I received some glorious, red, irridescent tile from a vendor. I had recently been working on “Wish You Were Here”, with a lot of extreme glass & china cutting, and when I first cut the red tile, I was in love... it cut like butter. So, I started shaping circles, which I then began placing on my substrate until I was satisfied with what looked to me like a sperm-like object. I pulled out my Sicis irridescent tile and so became “Birth of an Idea”.
I made these just because. I've been wanting to mosaic a pair of boots for a long time, and I found these perfect two resin boots at a garage sale this summer. This is the first one. The second is coming.
I found these beads at a bead show in San Antonio last year. I started playing on another little box, and this is what happened. Beads, glass gems, stained glass and vitreous tile make up this box.
For the tools I use as I work...
Drill holes in a 4x4 piece of wood.
Paint it or Mo' it!
It moves where you do so it is always
at your correct side to pop the tool back in it.
No more searching for rolling sharpies, dental picks etc...
Paint Brush, Basin and rag...
for cleaning glue out of gaps. Future pieces fit tighter,
less clean up before grouting. Also you can see problem
areas before the glue sets up.
Weldbond in a cake decorating bottle.
2 for about 3 bucks at Wally world.
Or Hobby Lobby.
For a smaller tip because I dab
the glue on the substrate and
not on the piece of glass.
Just my way...
If I dabbed glue on the piece
I would be covered in it.
I have big fingers!
