Mom: Here's me with the poofy door to match the poofy present. Do you want to know about the hat?
Me: Yes.
Mom: I hate to [laughs]. Well I would not buy a hat like that today. It was black fox, very chic, and I guess that's all.

Mom asked me to look up some thing on the internet, so I grabbed the iPad and taught her how to swipe, follow hyperlink, and Google.
Now has anyone seen my iPad?
The topic for Our Daily Challenge is 'When I Grow Up.'
I feel grown up. I am fortunate. I've had lots of great adventures, experiences, challenges, responsibilities and rewards. I still know how to explore, create and play.
What I face now is aging. 71 now, I will get older. My mother is 99. I may carry her longevity genes. I am ambivalent about this. I know, from friendships with many very old people, that advanced old age is hard work.

This month I've done very little shooting for myself. My new job specializes in family portraiture, and requires learning not only new skills, but a totally different set of gear. I opted to take a break from my regular style of shooting just to make the switch a little less confusing.
It's been a great experience and I'm learning a lot, but I'm missing my own camera (a Canon), and I think I'm ready to find more of a balance between my personal work and paid work.
In the meantime, here's a practice portrait of my mom, shot with the Nikon gear borrowed from my job.
Two photo booth shots of my young freckle-faced mom that were taken the same day (sometime in the late '50s or early '60s) as the previous photo since she's wearing the same plaid dress. There's no markings on the photos but I suspect she was probably going to a party or maybe a school dance?
Mom is having a birthday next week and Bonnie and I planned on buying her some new outfits. It was Mom's turn to give us a fashion show.
My mom made this when she was in High School. She signed it and dated it 1934 on the back.
It hung on the wall in our home and I admired it all my childhood years, and I still love the charm of it.
She gave it to me a few years ago.
Mom was 93 last week.
It is simply a piece of glass, and painted figures using black paint on the underside of the glass. The background is pale watercolor on paper. It has faded over the years a bit. The ''frame'' is just black tape, and some sort of cardboard backing.
I am happy to have it and it will go to my granddaughter soon I think...:).....:) I have too much ''stuff''.!!
Try as I may, I could not get the bright spot in the middle of the photo out...that is only there in the photo.
A boy from Dao minority is helping his mother in their rice field in Nam Dam, Quan Ba, Ha Giang. Life is hard for minority children in Vietnam's highlands. Most of them must support their family in doing hard works such as agriculture activities.

Mom and dad are still so in love.
It is the sweetest thing to see them blowing kisses at each other when they think noone is looking.
They are moving to a small apartment where they will begin their last journey together.

An 8" by 10" knick knack from about the house…found some unusual light, created a faux background using a very short focus. Really had fun with this!!! Have so many around I might do more!!!

This photograph was shot from a Canon eos elan7n with a Canon 50mm on Fuji Superia xtra 400 and developed and printed by Bay Photo in Santa Cruz Ca. I shot this photograph with my iPhone to share here. This is a favorite of mine and thought others here might like it as well. Thanks!
My mom passed away early Tuesday morning. She was the sweetest, kindest and most loving person I’ve ever known. No one could have asked for a better mom. I will love her and miss her forever.
I just wish I could have had a discussion with her, and I mean REALLY talked with her. Alas, she died when I was 11, and was she was only 38.
WAY too young.
We've lived here for a little over 3 years now. The overall consensus from the family is that we should stay with Mom for the duration....whatever that may end up being. We're ok with that.

They'd only been round a bit at this point so getting a lil' comfy with the surroundings. It was especially adorable seeing the mom keep an eye on her 4 babies as they leaped and jumped about the room.
