this photo was sent to my mom over the holidays by one of my cousins...mom was a little girl here with her sisters, brother and cousins...taken around 1930...
Degi Hari
This morning she found her way to leave life.
It was my mom who asked me once why I did not share my pictures with others. She was a fan of mine, though she found my beginnings so terrible.
She had an eye for the beautiful moments and that's how she lived her life. I see you in my dreams, Mom ;-))
this is my mom (in the back of the boat, running the motor) and my aunts Ann (center) and Susan (front), sitting in a little motorboat on Lake Champlain, in a town called Cedart Beach, Vermont, where they spent their summers growing up -- pretty sure this was taken in summer 1958
it's one of my favorite family photos, and so took it out of it's frame today & scanned it...
Here I was trying to take a picture of my beautiful daughter (mom-to-be) who has always loved being in front of the camera. But Sunday it was a firm "NO".
This reminded me of the days when she was little. Actually made me laugh but she was serious.
It is with great sadness that I share the news that Margo passed away yesterday to cancer. She was a photo / nature enthusiast and appreciated sharing her photos with this community so much. She spoke of all her connections close and far away, and enjoyed reading the dutch comments as a connection to her roots. Thank you for all the kind comments and supportive words over the years. My heart breaks to lose her. She was simply the best mom a daughter could ever ask for.

My mom is a woman filled with altruism. She is a life long learner, cat lady extraordinaire. My mom is the type of person who grows a garden and then doesn't get angry at the little bunnies who eat her vegetables. My mom keeps more potatoes than Agnes Varda has in her art exhibits. My mom loves neuroscience. She is not afraid of spiders or snakes and would rather sleep in the same bed as a Yūrei than suffer one more day with Trump as president. My mom has taken up yoga and tai chi late in life. She is a fan of all art. My mom has three furbabies that she loves dearly. All her cats have been named after monsters.
My mom is also an artist (photographer and drawer)

I'm sure I'm forgetting something....she is a very complex human.
Happy Birthday, Mom!

My mom is about to start her 54th year as a nurse. I made this portrait of her with a Pentx 6x7 on Ilford Delta 100 film.

The best days in 3rd grade were the days Mom had warm cookies and cold milk waiting for me when I got home from school. I'd walk the 3 blocks from Short Hills Grade school on Hobart Avenue to 30 Haddonfield Road. Home Sweet Home, especially when there were cookies and Mom waiting for me with a big hug and a kiss.
I made these for Ronnie and her children. With all the fires in Cali, they're gonna need some warm cookies and milk when they get home.
I used to give these glass ornaments to my mom every year for X-Myass. She HATED them, and actually boxed them up and sent them back. I think they're pretty cool. She was a good ol' gal though. I miss her.
It's been deep around here lately so I thought I had better lighten it up around here or at least mom it up *grin*
I mean HELLO! I AM a mom of three kiddos.
Three kids in less than 5 years......
that is a hell of A LOT OF MOM MOMENTS.
Sure some days, okay okay, A LOT of days, okay okay MOST days, they make me CrAzY but damn I am one blessed woman.
Be back later today with today's 365 shot.
Seven months ago today my mom died, and today we installed her memorial plaque at the Acosta-Rua Center for Caring. It's on a bench facing the lake, with the same view that she always had from the porch where she would sit, smoke, write in her journal, and watch the world in her five months in hospice. I don't think it was coincidence that Alicia, her "angel nurse," happened to stay late and caught me just as I arrived, and I couldn't have asked for a better person to stand there with me as we watched the plaque get installed.
I love to go see the wild horses of Sand Wash Basin. Here we captured a fairly new baby with her mom
...and she brought a meal. I could see 2 chicks in the box, but there may have been more hidden in the dark.
her given name was hazel marie, but she has always been known as marie. nevertheless, when i spotted this metal screen on a market street restaurant, i thought i'd use it to commemorate her 99th birthday today. studio photo was taken when she was 20. happy birthday, mom!
Mom dotes over the her little kid. They stayed on this cliff for a couple of days until young one got its footing
This had to be in the late 70's. Cindy was my mother's cat - she was a friendly cat 53% of the time!
Eakins Oval, Philadelphia
She spotted a meadow vole in the baseball field and swallowed it whole, owl-style.
The sunset of Mom's life was so beautiful, so gentle. This is the last picture taken of her -- just a few weeks ago. Good memories. Good thoughts. What a life. She passed away Nov. 7 quite suddenly and quickly, just a few hours after playing bingo with some of the other residents at Eugene Abby. She was 90. Would that this could be so for all of us.
Taken by her god grandson.
