About 100 people gathered in Bay Ridge Brooklyn on Friday February 13 to remember the victims of the February 10 murders of three young Muslims in Chapel Hill North Carolina.

Centrale thermique de Lucy
La centrale de Lucy est une centrale électrique fonctionnant au charbon.
Les installations de démarrage sont mises en service à l'issue de la Première Guerre mondiale, et ont pour objectif de subvenir aux besoins d'une grande partie du département. Elles exploitent pour ce faire le charbon local, disponible en grande quantité. D'une puissance de 30 MW qui sera complétée d'une unité de 18 MW en 1929 et de deux unités de 5 MW, elles sont remplacées par une unité de 18 MWw, ce qui porte la puissance d'ensemble à 66 MW.
Au milieu du second conflit mondial (1943), le site est réaménagé avec l'ouverture de nouvelles tranches de 45 MW, ce qui porte la puissance d'ensemble à 90 MW : c'est l'avènement de Lucy 2.
Une troisième tranche est ajoutée en 1971, pour une capacité de 250-270 MW. Lucy arbore son aspect actuel.
En 1995, Charbonnages de France, jusque là exploitant, constitue la SNET. Cinq ans plus tard, suite à l'arrêt définitif de l'extraction houillère sur le bassin montcellien, le combustible doit être importé.
La technologie usitée est dite du charbon pulvérisé. Ce dernier est injecté dans une chaudière à cendres fondues, pour une consommation horaire d'à peu près 120 t à pleine charge.
La centrale de Lucy impose sa présence dans le tissu urbain. Située à quelques hectomètres de la gare de Montceau et, par conséquent, le centre ville, elle se voit de loin. Sa cheminée, culminant à 142 m, est la plus haute construction de Saône-et-Loire (112 m pour la tour de refroidissement). C'est le témoignage le plus flagrant du passé industriel de la cité, en compagnie de l'ancien lavoir des Chavannes au sud-ouest, aujourd'hui friche en attente d'affectation à proximité du Canal du Centre.
La fin de l'exploitation était prévue pour le 31 mars 2014. Mais, la direction a décidé de précipiter le mouvement en raison de plusieurs avaries survenues au début de l'hiver. La fermeture proprement dite aura lieu en 2015.

Ce monument, créé par le sculpteur chalonnais Louis Thivin, choisi lors d’un concours, est implanté place de l’Hôtel de ville. Il comprend quatre sujets principaux, exécutés en ronde bosse, sur chacune des faces d’une pyramide : un mineur et un forgeron , une jeune veuve et son enfant, une représentation allégorique de la Renommée ; au sommet de la pyramide, un chapiteau couronné par le buste de la République. Une commission, regroupant syndicats de mineurs et municipalité, fut créée pour mener à bien le projet et assurer son financement grâce à une souscription (les mineurs collectaient les fonds à la sortie des puits). Sur le socle se trouvent diverses inscriptions : un poème de Clovis Hugues, une plaque ajoutée en 1910 pour dénoncer l’inhumation, sans prévenir les familles, par la société anonyme des Houillères de Blanzy, des victimes du grisou en 1895…
Le but de cette réalisation est d’honorer la mémoire des mineurs morts dans les puits de Montceau-les-Mines en particulier lors des nombreuses catastrophes : par exemple, celle du "Puits 5 sous" (montant de la prime donnée aux mineurs du fait des conditions de travail très dangereuses dans ce puits) le 12 décembre 1867, qui causa la mort de 89 mineurs.
