Well, I finally grabbed a clean copy of the dreaded ML 28-210 lens as it only cost me £5. Sadly, but not unpredictably, it is as bad as has been reviewed. Wide-open, it is simply terrible - very soft, even in the centre, and with massive chroma issues. Zoom creep is pretty awful too - indeed, it does not so much creep as slam down when held vertically. It seems to work better in macro mode and if you stop down to f8, you can get some decent images in high contrast situations. One to continue avoiding methinks...
