Little girl just needs to finish checking messages before she can move out of the way. Silay City, Philippines.

A only last minute decision to try and capture the cyclists. They had been cycling (and shouting) past my house the whole afternoon and only the last round I decided to take my bike and cycle up the road where I taught the background was interesting enough and did not have to many obstacles.

I placed myself safely in the grass (and nettles) about a metre from the road. And to my surprise, a first time experiance for me, one of the 'cool' cyclists (wich I do have (or had) respect and admiration for) shouted loudly, LOOK, there's another one of those idiots.

I was only a quarter mile from hoping on the ramp towards Cline Ave south and my route home when a quick blip came over AAR 25 on my scanner. Just about the last thing I expected, but, IHB's 122 job was on The Pass and requesting to head for Miller.

The overwhelming majority of moves to and from the IHB on the 4 tracks east of Kennedy Ave and Gibson Interlocking funnel towards CSX's Porter Branch which crosses the ex-EJE, now CN superhighway to Kirk just out of view to the left. To be more precise, a good amount of these moves do use the track that 122 is on, as behind me is the connection going from the IHB Gary Branch towards the Michigan Central. Beyond that switch on the Gary Branch though, this is the only traffic you'll see, and it has taken me a while to stumble into it!

122 heads east across the J at Ivanhoe, bound for an industrial park 2 1/2 miles away. This small stretch of the former reach all the way out to Burns Harbor keeps the Gary Branch alive to this day.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Even though it’s been a very colorful fall, I wasn’t able to capture as much of the local foliage as I usually do. The leaves stayed on the trees later into October compared to most years. As soon as I got home from Greenland I went on a hike to Lodge Trail Ridge near Story. Having been here in the spring, I knew the views would be even better in the fall. This time I took a shortcut by wading across Piney Creek before climbing the hill. Golds and yellows lined the creek with pine trees interspersed. Fiery bushes also dotted the hillside. Faster than expected the sunny blue sky was gone as a cold front swept through. It brought no rain, only wind and dark clouds. Just before slipping behind the mountain, the sun came out again for just a minute. I wanted to stay later to catch the sunset colors, but the wind was too much and wouldn't let me get a clear shot.

10th day of my 365

Out again on the roads, on the 10th day. I was quite happy, as for some reason I found quite a lot frames. Surprisingly all of them were about waiting.

Well, here is another wait. Dont know, why liked it, but this photo really questioned my tininess in this vast world and my ever loosing last minute ...

One minute my yard was filled with birds and squirrels, the next it was dead still with not a living thing to be seen. Oh, except for this one bird right outside my window.

Today is Friday the 13th! The fear of Friday the 13th is known as Paraskevidekatria.

Good Morning World... Well had to take a sunrise photograph this morning as I was heading off for an early morning photo shoot. I hadn't even gotten out of the neighborhood as the colors began to wildly change minute by minute as most sunrises/sunsets do. But this was taken this morning November 13, 2009 at 6.35am CST. I am sure that drivers behind me didn't appreciate the fact that I suddenly pulled over, and began to shoot away! LOL!

But make sure you have a great day, and remember its TGIF, Thank God Its Friday (well at least in my part of the world)!

A few seconds after taking this picture, I heard somebody shouting at me, "hey you, come see me that picture". She was having dinner on that corner and saw me standing in the middle of the street taking pictures. We chatted a few minutes and she asked me to buy a print of the picture. Next day I was rushing to the lab to have this printed on time so she had it before leaving New York. She used to live in New York, was there for a couple of days, and took this opportunity of having me there, with this picture, taken at that particular moment, beautiful moment, to keep a trace of that moment. That was June 30th, 2016, 8:30pm, temperature was in the 80's / close to 30 celsius. Such a perfect moment. That is why I love so much photography. A beautiful moment can be frozen in time, magnified, if you are able to capture it. I could have taken somebody else, in a different angle, that could have been a portrait, another type of picture, anyway the mood, the light were amazing on that particular moment. And the beauty of it is that 5 minutes later, maybe 1 minute, that light was gone. The moment was in the past. But forever frozen in time.

I've seen many shots of the Millenium Bridge from this spot in front of the Tate Modern and have taken quite a few myself in the past, but I'd never tried a long exposure of it. On this day, I had planned to meet up with another photographer to shoot around the Shard, but he'd got tied up in meetings and had to cancel, so I ended up waiting here for my wife to finish work. The clouds looked perfect for an LE and I had my gear with me, so it seemed daft not to. :)

Fitzroy Island (originally named Koba or Gabar) which has a population of only 44 people, on the Coral Sea, offshore from the city of Cairns, Queensland, Australia.

It is a 45-minute ferry ride (20 miles) from Cairns and is surrounded by a reef system that forms part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Nearly all of the continental island is protected within the Fitzroy Island National Park. It is covered in tropical rainforest.

The island separated from the mainland about 8000 years ago, at the end of the last ice age. There were Aboriginal visits, mainly for visiting hunting trips and recreation. The Yidiny people named the island "Gabaɽ", meaning "lower arm", because of how it was partially submerged.

Lieutenant James Cook named the island in 1770 after Augustus Henry Fitzroy. The island was used for a considerable time as a significant Chinese quarantine station for the Queensland goldfields. Subsequently, it was used as a mission school and, during World War II, as a coast watch station.

The island has also been a significant lighthouse base, with the last permanent lighthouse structures on the main island still being an important community attraction. Since the lighthouse closed, the marine community has been served by an automatic lighthouse, based on the adjacent Little Fitzroy Island. There has been both a giant clam farm at Welcome Bay, and there is now a tourist resort and day visitor centre.

Just a five-minute walk from where we were staying, the River Nevis flows down through the glen from which it takes its name. Further up the valley, the 'river' is dropped and the water course is referred to as the 'Water of Nevis'.

This view is from a footbridge which crosses at this point and which is one of the paths used by those going up (and coming down) Ben Nevis.
