Photographed along Old Goldendale Road, Yakima County, Washington. This mink crawled up out of the cattle guard and walk right up to me. If a vehicle had not been driving towards it I might have been able to walk around and get the sun behind me. IMG_6022

This guy didn't seem to be in any hurry!

My first and only mink.

How do you photograph a family of mink swimming in echelon cross in front of you in a kayak? I was taken by surprise as this family group of mink has swimming across the lake. This was my first mink shoot so I wasn't ready for this. The quality following images are fair.

Mink.

Very, very shy! in the early morning.

While waiting for the ospreys, I noticed this little guy hanging around the lake. Took a few mornings and lots of waiting, but I was finally able to get this shot. He's a bit wet, just came out of the water. (a first for me)

This mink was putting on a show for people strolling along the canal recently. I've never seen one, that's a silvery grey colour before.

As always, Many thanks for taking time to view, comment and fave. Thats very much appreciated

And then he dove!

While photographing by the river, I spotted this mink running along the riverbank each disappearing into the icy waters only to emerge with a fish each time!

After several successful attempts and several fish later, she stopped to take notice of my presence before disappearing into her den

This little mink was running all around, over and under the boardwalk at Nisqually NWR.

The trip home from Ottawa can be long so we made it a journey by driving through Algonquin Park to check out any wildlife that may be waking up to spring. We saw this mink on Costello Creek. He was pretty frisky so it was hard to get a sharp shot of him. The tons of snow still in the park made getting the exposure difficult. It was good though to get out of the car and stretch our legs a bit while watching this little guy.

Licking his lips.

I realize Mink are not the most popular of animals in the UK as they are non native and can be very destructive. They are also in the news recently as they may be a carrier of a new strain of Covid. However until very recently I had never seen one before so included in my portfolio.

Nope. Two shots of one individual…This is a re-run of an early blend. The mink was climbing around the tree, providing an ideal opportunity to blend images.

I know most people dont like this animal, but it still looks cute

Funny that... Steve and I were saying, you'd be bloomin' lucky to see a mink in the same place twice...

A lifer for me.Once it spotted me off it ran across the lake to the island not stopping to look at Me. Isle Lake Alberta.,

A close look reveals this one is eating a dragonfly. Jasper National Park

The Mink made a very quick appearance before making a jump to retrieve another fish!

A forest left to its own devices looks like this. Frontenac Provincial Park in Ontario on Thanksgiving weekend.

I went this morning to see if I could find the mink again. He was already sitting on a rock as soon as I got there at 7:41. He stuck around for a total of 1 minute, 2 seconds, which is a long time actually.

Mink are dark-coloured, semiaquatic, carnivorous mammals in the genera Mustela and Neogale and part of the family Mustelidae, which also includes weasels, stoats, martens, otters, badgers, and others. There are two extant species referred to as "mink", the American mink and the European mink. The extinct sea mink was related to the American mink but was much larger. The American mink's fur has been highly prized for use in clothing. Wikipedia

Minks love to roll in the snow especially to dry off after a dip in the river.

This mink showed up unexpectedly while I was looking for birds at a park.

I ran into this guy in a marsh last week while trying to sneak up on some ducks.
