Noch bis Dezember 2017 kann man die schönen EVB 628er auf der KBS 124 Minden (Westf.)-Rotenburg (Wümme) beobachten. Am 10.09.2016 führt das "Rosa Schweinchen" 628 154 die RB76 an, dahinter 628 150. Um 09:46 passieren sie das wunderschöne Bahnhofsgebäude von Estorf (Weser) auf dem Weg zum Bahnhof nach Rotenburg, den sie etwa 60 Minuten später erreichen.

While in the Badlands of South Dakota, we had the unexpected pleasure of finding 4 newborn bighorn sheep lambs. I will have more photos of them to share....This tender moment caught between a mother and her lamb touched me deeply. The umbilical cord is still attached to the baby. This one is probably a week old.

WWT Slimbridge.
The Glossy Ibis has become more familiar to birdwatchers following a series of mass arrivals in the 2000s. Increasing numbers of reports since then mirror an increase in the breeding population located in the south-west of Europe. There have been a number of breeding attempts here in the UK. It is likely that more regular breeding will be a feature in the future.
Climate change is thought to have supported the growth in visiting Glossy Ibis to Britain, with milder winters aiding their survival and enabling individuals to attempt breeding attempts the following year. (BTO).
Not as large as I thought it might be. About the size of a Curlew (which surprised me). This Glossy Ibis was in a field north of the entrance road into WWT Slimbridge. Not actually in the main reserve. I believe this is a juvenile bird, it didn’t seem to mind people at all.
By the time I got to it, the sun was already much higher in the sky than I would normally like and there was already a small crowd of people, birders and others watching it. It has been hanging around WWT Slimbridge for a few days now.
This shot is a little bit over-exposed where there’s some water on the beak and a little on the right leg, but I’m ok with that considering! For me this is a first, I’ve never seen one before!

Californian Poppies.
I planted these last year in my garden for the first time and quickly fell in love with them.
They’re not really poppies at all but I can see why they’re called that. They produce a profusion of flowers over a very long period, all delicate and wispy. And the flowers go to sleep at night!
But the overriding association I have with them is simply their colour. It’s just a remarkable orange and I can’t think of them without the word orange poppying into my mind :)
I thought I would try an put that into this image, taken in August last year. So here we have it: orange, the essence of a flower (at least from my perspective lol).

Touched up in Affinity, converted to mono in Nik Silver Efex with lots of contrast and darks, and structure in the highlights. Adding back the selective colour in SEfex was straightforward with multiple control points grouped together.

Devious Mind - Asteria
No more gachas? I am hoping the "clever" people will come up with something to replace them. Along with quite a few others, I have had a grand passion for the gacha outfits that Chandra Meehan of Devious Mind has produced over these many years. She seemed to have a gacha machine at every event and I certainly contributed to them in a big way. I don't know if Asteria was her last one but it was fairly recent and it will feature in a dance of mine in the very near future as her costumes have done often in the past. This very charming outfit I'm wearing which is only commons, I did not score any rares, is called Asteria in Seaweed tone, far prettier than one would expect from that name. Here's to more Devious Mind costumes in whatever way she chooses to replace her gachas. The hairpiece is a Lode gacha item.
