Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

I took this photo on Dec 11, 1974, at The Stables, in East Lansing, Michigan, a club where I saw many great performers. I was lucky enough to score a seat right at Miles' feet. If he had cleared his trumpet valves with well-aimed gusto, the spittle could've landed right on my table. I don't recall who was in the band at that time, but I found the lineup for another concert around the same time that included electric guitarists Pete Cosey and Reggie Lucas; percussionist James Mtume Heath; bass player Michael Henderson; Sonny Fortune on sax & flute, and drummer Al Foster.
17 years later I was traveling by train in Morocco, going city to city, spending my days getting gloriously lost in the medinas. One afternoon I was sitting in a dingy cafe when I heard a Miles song on the radio. It was first western music I'd heard the entire trip. It quickly dawned on me why (confirmed when I got home): Miles had died.
Ightham Mote when we visited was holding an art exhibition by artist Guy Portelli. He had a large number of pieces around the manor, all linked with music, old and new.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

I'm a bit behind in my SP. (it hasn't even been shot and it may not be) But I thought I'd upload this in the meantime. I know I'm probably killing you with all these landscapes. They won't last forever. It's just a phase I'm going through. Similar to Charlotte in Lost in Translation when she says "I tried taking pictures, but they were so mediocre. I guess every girl goes through a photography phase. You know, horses... taking dumb pictures of your feet." Only mine are landscapes. (You don't want to see my feet. Not that they're gross, but you just don't.) What was the question? I digress yet again.

Immediately after the moron at the 4 Aces movie set told me I could not use my “professional” camera, I reached into my pocket and produced my Samsung Note 4 Droid…I was able to snap about 4 or 5 shots with it until the feces head threw me off of the property, which was a good thing because I was able to start using my “professional” camera again…much to the chagrin of his boss who just happened to drive up out of nowhere…being on public land, there was nothing he could do at that point…it would be like the mayor of San Francisco telling me I couldn’t take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge…
This was a sleeper movie 25 years ago with an awesome soundtrack:

There is a gravel track that heads north from the San Chuan de Plan /Chistan junction, up the Chistau in the direction of the great lost peaks of Bachimala, Culfreda and Lustou. A family and rural path follows the river and the variety of trees is documented with panels. The film features the water and the autumn leaves.
The track is from 'Somethin' Else' (1958), the first of a diptych of visual musical sounds that ended with Miles Davis's 'Kind of Blue' (1959) marking the focal point for today's understanding of 'Cool Jazz'. For the record, Davis gave Adderley the headline for what would be Adderley's only Bluenote release. Davis leads on trumpet and Adderley follows with his Alto Sax solo, and this alone merits the name of the record, and can only be described as 'Somethin' Else'. Hank Jones on piano could probably have enjoyed another take to keep up with the level set and Art Blakey sets the tone with some intimate tapping and subdued reflections.
The song as cropped for being over 10minutes log and the final Coda can be seen/heard on the adjacent post.

僕は当初、とても嬉しかったけれども、実感が湧きませんでした。
展示の度に、プロフィールを編集します。
その都度、写真を始めたことがただの偶然だったと感じます。
YouTube内に、日本語で解説しましたが、僕は国内と海外の建築家の方々に認められました。
彼らは、ほとんど直観的に僕を評価していたと思います。
僕はカメラの仕組みを全く分からず、フォトショップの編集もずさんでした。
しかし、フルオートの撮影、無編集の写真でも、彼らは僕を評価してくれました。
ときどきは、厳しい言葉をいただきましたが。:)
しかし、彼らは初めから僕に何かを感じてくれていました。
その後、閲覧数が想像を越えた数に達しました。
僕は今、ここに改めて感謝の気持ちを伝えます。
ありがとうございます。
しかし、始めた頃から今日まで、僕の撮影する意思は変わっていません。
僕の写真は、日常の一片です。
皆さんの日常とまったく同じ日常です。
２４時間の内に、一瞬のきらめきがあります。美しさがあり、切なさがあり、儚さがあります。
僕はその瞬間を自分が感じるままに撮影してきました。
これはこれからも変わりません。
平凡な毎日。退屈な日常。それらから生まれる倦怠。
しかし、僕らは目を覚まします。
スマートフォンで撮影した彼。彼女。家族。
あなたは、愛する人たちと一瞬を過ごしていたことに気づくでしょう。
僕らはあらゆる欲に飲まれ、自分を見失います。
でも、一瞬を見つめ直すことで、僕らは目を覚ますかもしれません。

These words still support me even after 18 years.
“You will leave your mark in the world of photography. I’ve been praised by people from abroad for that in the past. Initially, it made me very happy, but the realization didn’t sink in. With each exhibition, I edit my profile. Each time, I feel that starting photography was just a coincidence. I explained it in Japanese on YouTube, and I gained recognition from both domestic and international architects.
They mostly evaluated me intuitively. I knew nothing about the workings of a camera, and my Photoshop editing was sloppy. Yet, even with fully automatic shooting and unedited photos, they appreciated my work. Sometimes, I received harsh words. :)
But they felt something for me from the beginning.
Since then, the number of views has exceeded my expectations.
I would like to once again express my gratitude to you.
Thank you.
However, from the beginning until today, my intention to capture hasn’t changed. My photos are a fragment of everyday life. It’s the same everyday life as yours.
Within 24 hours, there is a momentary sparkle. There is beauty, there is sadness, there is transience. I have been capturing those moments as I feel them. This will not change in the future.
Ordinary days. Boring routines. Weariness born from them. However, we wake up. Him, her, and family captured with a smartphone. You will realize that you spent a moment with your loved ones.

トイレにいたっては清潔感を保つために、神経を張り巡らせて執拗に清掃する。トイレだけでなく、書類などにも詳細なデータを用意するために、神経がやられ、残業も増える。余分な箇所に気を払っているから、よーく見ると、重要で、肝心なテーマがぽっかり抜けている。

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

じゃ、なぜ、アメリカで成功したスポーツ選手の一部は、日本へ戻ってこないのか？
イタリアへ嫁いだ日本人女性の旦那様がこう言いました。

奥様は一瞬呆れてからこうつけ足しました。

旦那様は苦笑い。
必要以上に清潔で、細かく、神経を使う。だから、この国は成長しなかったんです。
建物がわかりやすい。海外の建物ってかなりいい加減な作りが多いですよね。
でもこれっていい加減でテキトーというものではなく、重要な箇所はしっかり作られている。
表面上の細かい部分については、「ま、こんなもんじゃん？」っていう具合で、大まかに物事をみんなで進めてゆこうというムードがある。
トイレにいたっては清潔感を保つために、神経を張り巡らせて執拗に清掃する。トイレだけでなく、書類などにも詳細なデータを用意するために、神経がやられ、残業も増える。余分な箇所に気を払っているから、よーく見ると、重要で、肝心なテーマがぽっかり抜けている。
アートでもそう。
葛飾北斎とアンディ・ウォーホルの比較がわかりやすい。北斎は線も配色も非常に繊細だけれども、ウォーホルは大胆な線と配色でインパクトを生んでいる。いずれも同じ芸術作品で、見る側を同じように満足させる。
同じ目的を達成するために、複雑な過程を要するか否か。
日本人の仕事は、いまだに葛飾北斎が美徳されている。
必要以上に細かさを求めるのではなく、良い意味で大雑把でないと企画というのは進まないのです。
以前に他の動画で話しましたが、アーロン・ソーキン脚本のソーシャルネットワーク。facebookの立ち上げ時の話ですが、ヘッドフォンして、ピザを食べながら、長時間ぶっ通しで、ガンガン仕事を進める。
これにかなうわけがない。
もしも、この記事を良しとした場合、日本の安全性、精度等が他国に比べて優秀とした場合、
なぜ、オープンAIが日本から生まれなかったか。なぜ、アップルが日本から生まれなかったか。
それとも、これからオープンAIは生まれるのか。アップルは生まれるのか。
安全な国なら良いアイディアが生まれ、経済は活発になるのか。
戦後の日本は、ハングリー精神に満ちていたから、親父らはがむしゃらに働きつづけた。

このバブル以降の３０年間、変化や転機を望まず、引き続き、バブルの記憶に浸って過ごしてきたのが日本なんですよ。

I took this shot at The Stables, in East Lansing, Michigan. I must have gotten there early because I didn't need a telephoto lens. I had a table right at Miles's feet.
I knew I took this in 1974, but I had no idea of the month and day until I checked the Concert Database, where someone has uploaded a vintage newspaper ad showing that it was Dec. 11. That ad also mentioned the ticket prices. $4 in advance, $5 at the door.
This was my one and only time seeing Miles, and I was thrilled to be there, but he was a few years into his decline already. After 1971's Live-Evil, I lost interest. The music on this night was as flaccid as the stuff on his then-current recordings.
Nevertheless, Miles created a monumental legacy. A half century later and more, his good stuff is as potent as ever.
