Late day long exposure on calm evening over the river.

After being at work from 6:15 am until 7:15 pm ... by the time I got home and ate a quick dinner, when I looked outside around 8 the sky looked like it could potentially be colorful. I debated whether to head out in a rush down to the river (about a 15 minute ride) ... and decided I needed to get a break from the stress of work and enjoy a few minutes of the day.

Was not disappointed with the colors ... here is a 10 second capture made with the 64ND (6 Stop) filter.

Interesting how by this time of the year the sun is setting way up river as opposed to beyond the end of the pier like it does in winter. Limits the compositions.

Whilst in lockdown and looking through my many images I came across a number of them that I have never posted before.

First and only time I have photographed this particular type of Woodpecker.

Image taken in the Hortobagy region of Hungary.

Many thanks to everyone that views and comments on my images - much appreciated.

Until a few years ago this species was rare in our area but it is clearly expanding its distribution range in westerly direction

Receding sunlight and transition from warm tones to cooler tones. It is amazing to watch this happen as the sun sets each time ... and how quickly that change in tones occurs.

Went back through the captures taken down at my Dad's along Middle River ... one from each month this past year.

Its great to see him each time (even if most of those visits were outside and from a distance) ... and to have this pretty area to practice photography.

Happy New Year

If you view large, one the bow of the speedboat there you will two women who were dancing to loud music, having a great time out on the river and happy to be out socially distancing on the water.

The sky was close to really lighting completely up this evening ... but alas it remained closer to the horizon while down along Middle River. In this case with the light more focused it was a good time to use the Crystal Ball.

Set it up on a piece of drift wood along the icy river.

There was such potential for a large colorful sunset this evening ... but alas the clouds were just a little too much right as the sun set. If the sunset had happened about 30 minutes earlier I think the clouds and sun would have aligned better for some sky fireworks.

Alas, the colors and light was pinned to the horizon, so the 24/105 lens came in handy for compositions there along Middle River.

The sun was moving toward the horizon, so I decided to use its light to capture images of a liquid world. A large dish of water elevated above colorful fabric with the addition of liquid soap and oil...and I was ready. It seemed to take forever, yet I actually cheered when I saw this image through my macro lens. Haven't we all been caught in the middle of something?

Collage of this years captures through the months taken at this pretty spot in Maryland. It is very nice having this location nearby to get out and take in the pretty sights there as well as practicing photography.

Hoping we can all have a great time snapping away in 2020.

In Gooseberry Falls State Park. There are four waterfalls in the park but we decided not to hike to the fourth. After seeing these, that made for hiking to 10 waterfalls for the week and we thought that was a good amount to end our trip on.

Pastels there late into the sunset last evening along Middle River.

The Celts settled in the middle of a swampy landscape in the Rhone Delta and traces of the Romans can still be found today, especially in the city of Arles.

After Rome, the most Roman remains can be found there. Of the eight monuments in Arles (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Roman amphitheater is undoubtedly the most important.

It was built in 90 AD and could accommodate up to 21,000 spectators.

Today, the Provençal bull games take place here.

In contrast to bullfights in Spain, the Course Camarguaise is bloodless. The bullfighter tries to tear a tassel wrapped around the animal's horns with the help of an iron claw.

The bulls come from the Camargue and are allowed to return to the pasture there after the game.

Heute finden hier provenzalische Stierspiele statt.
