Here's a Rivoli's hummingbird and another hummingbird jockeying for position near the feeders at Ramsey Canyon Preserve (AZ).
I apologize for my absence the last few weeks. There's nothing we love more than going to the British Isles. After having been to North Yorkshire last week we went to Newcastle for a few days. We could tick off the impressive Angel of the North from our bucket list. Feels very good! Can I make up with a sweet and very useful ladybug? Or for the Britons among you: ladybird ;-)

This tiny weed flower measures 1/4" in diameter...not the center portion, but from open petal tip to open petal tip across the widest diameter is only one quarter of an inch!

Tiny wasp, maybe about 1.5mm long, stands near the messy house of a psocid (bark lice). Toolakea Beach, Qld.
A micro (macro) photograph of one single grain of table salt.
Grains of salt are translucent...who knew? You can see the red background through the salt crystal.

I've been trying to make a larger version of one of these for so long. A massive shortage of dark brown pieces and a general lack of skill means that this is what I ended up with. Ah well, maybe I'll just need to micro scale my Cadillacs & Dinosaurs stuff ;)

A shot from 2017 with a Panasonic G1 and Sigma 105mm Macro EX DG, wide open for the bokeh and with a tripod with a 2 sec timer....Still searching for thé composition.
Shooting fungi so low to the ground doesn't have to be a hassle if you turn your tripod upsidedown, and have a camera with a 360 degrees flipscreen, so you can still focus with prime lenses searching for the right POV.
When you stick your (micro/macro) lens way down deep inside of a rose, this is what you get.

My husband is an engineer for a company that does research and development for systems that monitor weather. I got to take pictures in the small museum they have there.

An SD card that is for my drone. Alas I don't fly it anymore because it's just impossible to find legal places to fly that are worth photographing.
The image is about 1.5 cm (0.60 inches) on the long edge.

Long ago I had this plant for some years. The flowers were only an 1" in diameter. A lovely plant that bloomed around the time of wild Asters. It did not come with a name tag, but for me it was like a Micro sized Aster.
