What's in a scientific name? ... "Platycercus eximius"
"Platycercus" translates as broad-tailed or flat-tailed. This is a reference to a body feature that all of the parrots (i.e., members of the Order Psittaciformes) in this genus share. This is the defining feature for a rosella. There are 6 rosellas species, and they are all Australian in origin (i.e., Western, Crimson, Green, Pale-headed, Eastern, and Northern Rosellas.).
"eximius" translates as excellent, exceptional, extraordinary, fine, superb or uncommon. This is such an appropriate description for this species. Every time I come across one, I feel my breath being taken away. And it is hard to do any type of justice to the saturation and patterning of the colors - they are just spectacular.
I came across this particular bird as it munched on dried clover seeds. It would tackle the seed heads directly when they were at the right height, as was the case here. Otherwise, it exhibited great dexterity by standing on one foot, and using the other foot to harvest the seed head and transfer it to its mouth.

Photography notes ...
The photograph was taken using the following hardware configuration ...
(Year of manufacture indicated in braces where known.)
- Hasselblad 500C/M body (1994).
- Hasselblad CFV-50c Digital Back for Hasselblad V mount camera.
- Hasselblad Focusing Screen for the CFV-50c digital back, with focussing prism and crop markings.
- Hasselblad 45 Degree Viewfinder PME-45 42297 (2001).
- Hasselblad Carl Zeiss lens - Sonnar CF 250mm f/5.6 Superachromat lens (1987).
- FotodioX B60 Lens Hood for Select Hasselblad Telephoto CF Lenses.
I acquired the photograph (8272 x 6200 pixels) with an ISO of 400, exposure time of 1/500 seconds, and aperture of f/11.0
Post-processing ...
Finder - Removed the CF card from the camera digital back and placed it in a Lexar 25-in-1 USB card reader. Then used Finder on my MacBook Air to download the raw image file (3FR extension) from the card.
Lightroom - Imported the 3FR image.
Lightroom - Used the Map module to add the location details to the EXIF header.
Lightroom - Made various lighting and color adjustments to the image.
Lightroom - Straightened the image and then applied a square (1:1 aspect ratio) crop.
Lightroom - Saved the Develop module settings as preset 20161121-005.
Lightroom - Output the image as a JPEG image using the "Maximum" quality option (1843 x 1843 pixels).
PhotoSync - Copied the JPEG file to my iPad Mini for any final processing, review, enjoyment, and posting to social media.

I have some plans for using this pair of frames as part of a demo set up but the "waist" connection for the frames is still a bit fiddly and prone to falling apart when handled.

Revisited one of the first mechs I built. Altered his core to be more like a Chub. Much more durable than the previous build. More angles in my photostream.

Hangar post: [when the hangar returns]
Veyman-CRKT base frame (60pcs) carries over much of the aesthetics of the Veyman-HK (which started with the Veyman Genesis).
Design journal:
Continuing the Veyman aesthetic with a quad, I’ve been playing with this core design on and off for a while. I have dozens of variations scattered about my desk. I started with how to make a simple, low-parts quad-leg set-up without an octagon plate. It took a lot of iteration, but I settled on this. Then I focused on carrying over the shoulder config from the Veyman Genesis and Veyman-HK into a turret-like body, but a quad really didn’t need the slight angle it added to the overall shape so I dropped it in favor of a more solid tank-like build. This also allowed for a more simplified parts list (just 2 SNOT bricks in the base frame). The core maximizes slope bricks for shaping and implied articulation. Once again, the whole frame was kept angular with only the head/cockpit being curved. With no arms, the body and legs needed to be optimized for hardpoints; the sides of the body and legs were obvious, but the dorsal area between the 2 aft wings is eminently configurable. It’s a little larger than I prefer for a MFZ table, but it’s well within a 10x10 box.
These are mods of Artasid's Hover Frames.
No change to the core here: I've just added huge arms and legs to make a heavy construction frame.

Not all of these are my designs.
The AK is lifted from AYates and the rest is all basically riffing on Soren's work.
The Golden Ring Company are the elite pilots of the TTM. The Jiguang Transit Gate grants them lavish salaries and generous resources to purchase and customize their own mobile frames. Their top priority is to make sure that nothing threatens the all-important lifeline to the rest of the known galaxy. Normally, that means patrolling the space around the gate itself, but these are unusual times. And right now, the number-one threat to the gate has to be the terrorists of the APLF.
Alicanto has insisted that this is their problem to deal with, but it’s been years, and these criminals remain at large. The ASDF has shown itself to be ineffective at best, and deliberately obstructionist at worst, while the other wings of the Solar Union government sit on their hands and counsel patience. Jiguang is tired of waiting.
What’s more, now the terrorists have holed up in Trapananda, causing who knows what kind of damage. It’s bad enough that the site has been ordered evacuated by (Alicanto) court orders while the ownership and liability claims wind their way through legal hell, but now the terms of those orders are being ignored—possibly deliberately, as a prelude to some kind of nationalization scheme.
The Xuhan Expeditionary Corporation, which invested good capital to establish the mines at Trapananda, is not happy with that. The TTA isn’t happy about the lack of gold ore travelling through the transit gate, either. And the TTM exists to make their bosses happy.
Jiguang will send the Golden Ring Company to solve this problem once and for all. Their job is to capture or eliminate the armed terrorists of the APLF, and if that job requires recapturing the legal property of XE Corp, well—that’s a nice fat bonus for them.

Imbrium Lunokhod Industries Model VS-MU-333 'Lorikeet' is the next step in Imbrium Lunokhod Industries Frame System. This mass produced frame builds on the versatile and flexible mobile frame platform made popular by the VS-M/S-71 'Degei' (flic.kr/s/aHsm37uTTm) and the VS-MX-04 'Rangi' (flic.kr/s/aHsk4AUkEY). Developed for planetary surface operations and utility deployments, the Lorikeet will definitely not excel in zero-g environments, it's outclassed by more maneuverable specialty frames. But for deployments to planetary surfaces, the frame offers a more affordable (although less durable) alternative to the Varuna (flic.kr/s/aHsm89p5MW) the a more extensible (and repairable) alternative to the Krivlyaka (flic.kr/s/aHsm4d6e2v).
From a design perspective, the frame takes a ton of inspiration from both Malcolm Craig's MgN-333 (flic.kr/p/dEFocc) and Aardvark17's Budgie (flic.kr/p/2kgyyua) frames as well as my version of the HR-13 flic.kr/s/aHsmMLcB3m.

Built for Mobile Frame Zero
Another lightly modified frame by SuspendedAnimation. The Thermal Energy Rifle has been equipped with a canister style power source, rather than tethered directly to the frame. Although this limits the ability for uninterrupted firing, it allows the weapon to be carried by most frames.
The Sumperk Industries Beryll has a reputation for good mobility and armor, but is often criticized for limited payload.

This little guy started as a table scrap i put together after diving the MOC pages. Afterwards i decided to make him a small addition to the Varangian Guard, not quite playable, but he certainly dresses up any stations or terrain i have :) Credit to Ironsniper for his hard suit which served as the base for this little guy.
