A group of brown pelicans glides across a shimmering body of water, their silhouettes cutting through the light like slow-moving punctuation marks. The surface sparkles with reflected sunlight, turning the scene into a quiet spectacle—part wildlife documentary, part abstract painting.
I caught them mid-drift, just as the light hit that perfect angle where everything looked more poetic than it probably was. The pelicans moved with the kind of deliberate grace that says, “We’ve done this before.” I framed the shot while they floated like feathered buoys, unfazed by my presence and clearly uninterested in anything resembling urgency. It felt like nature’s version of a slow parade—no music, no confetti, just attitude and excellent lighting.

A beautiful meditative scene on the Sacramento National Wildlife Refugee , a quiet paradise for many species of birds including millions of snow geese in the fall. It was near sunset on the river about 60 miles north of the capitol city. For me a perfect moment that makes me smile and be grateful I was there.

I'm not exactly sure what this Grizzly was thinking about, but she seemed to be in a pretty good meditative state. Portage, Alaska, August 2016

as the sun teeters on the brink of the horizon, its golden hues breathe magic into the iron lattice of a pathway in portixol's modest harbor. this isn't just a walkway; it's a corridor of time, capturing the essence of transition as day gives a slow nod to night. there's a solitary figure in the distance, perhaps a wanderer pondering the poetry of dusk, or maybe a local, steeped in the quietude of their regular passage. this place, where the sea's whispers meet the firmness of the land, becomes a canvas, the iron glowing like molten gold, reshaping a utilitarian structure into a spectacle of light and shadows. here is a moment of stillness, yet brimming with stories untold.
Waterfilm is a series filmed since 2012 based on the idea of filming with a freehand camera for a period of exactly one minute. This series illustrates the meditative qualities of water in an urban environment. It is my belief that the close observation of this essential element has the ability to influence our perceptions. Each film is intended to be a short meditation – take your time to feel it, but don’t swim away too far...

beneath a sky stitched with fading light, a lone figure stands at the world’s edge, cradled by silence. between sea and sky, where all journeys end and begin, he carries the quiet weight of becoming.

Young biblical hero in meditative pose who, with the help of God, defeats an enemy more powerful than him. An almost imperceptible sling emphasizes the victory of innocence and intellect over brute force.
The sling and the stone were covered with gold leaf, but the sculpture was installed in Piazza della Signoria and the golden details were removed by the action of time.
The original position of the statue would be on one of the buttresses of the Duomo of Santa Maria dei Fiori. However the final result of the work was so exceptional that a commission was set up to discuss the fate of the work. Names such as Leonardo da Vinci - who defended the positioning of the work on the Loggia of Piazza della Signoria - and Boticelli - that defended its original position were part of this commission.

“For in it may be seen most beautiful contours of legs, with attachments of limbs and slender outlines of flanks that are divine; nor has there ever been seen a pose so easy, or any grace to equal that in this work, or feet, hands and head so well in accord, one member with another, in harmony, design, and excellence of artistry”.
Giorgio Vasari, from his “Lives of the most excellent painters, sculptors and architects”.
A quiet scene from Col de la Cayolle, located in Mercantour National Park. At over 2,300 meters altitude, a shallow alpine pond mirrors golden grasses and scattered rocks. Rugged slopes rise in the background beneath a clear blue sky, in complete silence. Late summer light, no human presence—just untouched nature, where stone meets grass.
a quiet meditative sounding word if said repeatedly.
and becoming a bit fuzzy as well.
the humming of summer

This close-up of a Bidens pilosa wildflower captures a quiet, almost meditative moment in nature. Shot on Kodak Gold 200 film using a Pentax SMC 50mm f/4 macro lens, the image isolates a single bloom in delicate focus, while the surrounding field melts into soft circles of pastel bokeh. The lens draws attention to the tiny filaments and pollen details at the flower’s center, while the slightly cool tonality of the background adds depth and calmness. There’s a gentle imperfection here, a few grains, a bit of softness, that makes the frame feel alive, as if the air still moves around the bloom.
The macro setup with Kodak Gold’s warm palette, keeping the yellows rich and natural without oversaturation. The shallow depth of field is well-controlled, with a smooth transition from sharp to blurred that flatters the subject’s delicate geometry. Focus falloff is gradual rather than abrupt, creating a painterly atmosphere characteristic of analog macro work.

Just west of U-Bein Bridge, this sprawling monastery is a pleasantly meditative place for most of the day. But at about 11am, busloads of tourists arrive to gawp while the whole monastery sits down to eat, their silence pierced by the endless rattle of camera shutters. Worth avoiding.
a priest sits alone in the penumbra of basilica di san crisogono, his gaze caught between silence and something unseen above. light slips across his robe like a passing thought, revealing the wear of years and the weight of belief. within these centuries-old walls, shadows speak gently, and faith feels carved into stone.
This pic was taken at the beautiful Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Their lily pond is simply magnificent.
Walking in an almost meditative state, she nearly missed the impressing birch. Wow ...counting ..1 2 3…..9! Nine from one root. Amazing. She looked high up. Smiled and remembered, I know that feeling. She had trusted him. Dared to feel, to hope, to dream. No limit, everything seemed possible then. Like she could reach the sky. Her special love. She wondered, is that how I'll always think of him. A smile briefly crossed her face. She never quite got to know him, but her heart did. It felt right. No regrets. She had never needed to think twice. Knew there was purpose of him in her life, there always would be. Perhaps there even was a deeper reason to all of this. Love don't need reason or to be explained. It's there or it's not....as simple as that.
On the eighth day, god said, I need some cover art for my latest DnB album, and lo, the Matterhorn and Riffelsee were created. And the people listened to it and it was good and liquid and melodic.
Namtso is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and significant for Tibetan Buddhists. Kora is a Tibetan word that means "circumambulation" or "revolution". Kora is both a type of pilgrimage and a type of meditative practice in the Tibetan Buddhism. Thus, Namtso Kora means pilgrimage walk around the Lake Namtso.
Namtso literally means heavenly lake in Tibetan language. Located around 240km northwest of Lhasa, capital of Tibet, it takes four hours’ driving from Lhasa. Extending 70 km from east to west and 30 km from south to north, the lake covers an area of 1,920 sq km and has an altitude of 4748 m above sea level. It is biggest lake in Tibet and the second biggest salt lake in China as well as one of the highest lakes in the world. The water in the lake is crystally clear and blue. The blue sky joins the surface of the lake in the distance, creating an integrated, scenic vista.
In every Tibetan year of sheep, thousands of Tibetan Buddhism believers will come here to worship this sacred lake. As a rule, they will walk clockwise along the Namtso Lake in order to receive the blessing of the gods.
There are several fine Tibet treks around the lake. The shortest one is roughly 4 kilometers and takes less than one hour. It starts from the accommodation area to a hermit’s cave hidden behind a large spinter of rock. The kora continues to a rocky promontory of cairns and prayer flags. At the promontory, pilgrims undertake a ritural washing in the lake. And then the trail continues past several caves and a prostration point where there are two rock towers looking like two hands. Pilgrims squeeze into the deep slices of the nearby cliff face as a means of sin detection or drink water dripping from cave roofs, even swallow holy dirt.

some stories don’t unfold—they simply pause.
a man resting on the stone steps of the torres de serranos in valencia, perfectly caught in a triangle of sunlight. behind him, the carved crown and angels seem to watch over his stillness.
he’s not performing, he’s just being.
and the light, almost reverently, seems to choose him.
this wasn’t staged. it was a fleeting moment of peace in a city always moving.
the red scarf, the shadow crown, the sun’s blade—everything in quiet alignment.

These two ladies were walking along lost in their own world. The original image was taken at a good distance. I did crop and add a Topaz application to enhance the mood. Thanks for stopping by. All comments are appreciated.
