Once you turn inward, meditation has started. Meditation means the capacity to be joyously alone, the capacity to be happy with yourself, the capacity to keep company with yourself. To be with yourself is meditation.
Meditation is emptying yourself of all content. When there is no thought moving inside you there is stillness; that stillness is meditation. Not even a ripple arises in the lake of your consciousness; that silent lake, absolutely still, that is meditation.

Just off a busy shopping street in North Vancouver is a small park that I've driven and walked past so many times and always wanted to take a look. So yesterday, between rain showers, I went to the park with my camera. This is a meditation circle in which people sit on the ground and meditate, with the bright red statues of monks in a circle. I thought the red was too glaring for portraying the peaceful feeling of meditation, so converted it to mono.
Meditation is the secret to Enlightenment. Shanti.
