High On Fire (il cui frontman è Matt Pike degli Sleep) sono in tour con il loro ultimo lavoro intitolato "Luminifereous".
Gli High on Fire sono un gruppo musicale statunitense di Stoner/Doom metal. Formati da Matt Pike nel 1998 dopo lo scioglimento degli Sleep insieme al batterista Den Kensel ed all'amico chitarrista George Rice passò al basso. Il contratto con la Relapse Records li ha portati all'attenzione del pubblico mondiale divenendo in breve tempo uno dei gruppi principali dell'etichetta.

On 21 April 2025, Austrian actress Johanna Matz (1932) passed away at the age of 92. In the 1950s, she made a blitz career as the natural ‘Wiener Mädel’ (the Viennese Gal). Matz acted in more than forty films and TV films, but she considered herself primarily a theatre actress.
Johanna Maria Emilie Dorothea Matz was born in Vienna in 1932. When 'Hannerl' was just four years old, she began taking ballet lessons at the Vienna Academy. Later, she had a stage training at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar. At the final presentation in 1950, she was discovered by Berthold Viertel and engaged for the prestigious Burgtheater, where she would be a contract player until 1993. In 1951, she made her film debut in Asphalt (Harald Röbbeling, 1951) as a girl who becomes a prostitute. In the comedies Der alte Sünder / The Old Sinner (Franz Antel, 1951) and Zwei in einem Auto / Two in a car (Ernst Marischka, 1951), she played her typical character, the clean and spontaneous girl from Vienna. She became a film star with her sweet and charming role in the operetta Die Försterchristl / The Forester's Daughter (Arthur Maria Rabenalt, 1952) opposite Will Quadflieg. Director Otto Preminger then invited her to Hollywood, where she played the lead in the German language version of the controversial comedy The Moon is Blue (Otto Preminger, 1953). In Die Jungfrau auf dem Dach (Otto Preminger, 1953), she starred with Hardy Krüger and Johannes Heesters. Krüger and Matz also played brief roles as tourists in the Empire State Building sequence in the English language version, while the stars of that version, William Holden and Maggie McNamara, played the same roles in the German version.
In 1954 Johanna Matz also made Mannequins für Rio (Kurt Neumann, 1954), a melodrama about white slavery co-starring Scott Brady and Raymond Burr. This film was also made in an English language with the same stars as They Were So Young. That year, she returned to the stage because she considered herself primarily a theatre actress. She became a popular performer of the heroines of the classic dramas by Arthur Schnitzler, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, but also as the star in operettas. Occasionally, she played in films like Mozart / The Life and Loves of Mozart (Karl Hartl, 1955) opposite Oskar Werner, Regine (Harald Braun, 1956) with Horst Buchholz, Frau Warrens Gewerbe / Mrs. Warren's Profession (Ákos Ráthonyi, 1960) with Lilli Palmer, Die Glücklichen Jahre der Thorwalds / The Happy Years of the Thorwalds (John Olden, Wolfgang Staudte, 1962) with Elisabeth Bergner, and the Heimatfilm Ruf der Wälder / Call of the Forests (Franz Antel, 1965) with Mario Girotti (Terence Hill). Since the end of the 1960s, she has been mainly seen in Austrian TV productions. In the cinema, she was seen in the Heinz Rühmann vehicle Der Kapitän / The Captain (Kurt Hoffmann, 1971) and the Eric Malpass adaptation Als Mutter streikte / When Mother Went on Strike (Eberhard Schröder, 1975) with Peter Hall. One of her last screen appearances was as herself in Bellaria - So lange wir leben! / Bellaria: As Long as We Live! (Douglas Wolfsperger, 2002), a wonderful documentary about the traditional Viennese cinema Bellaria, which is specialised in German cinema from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, and its regular customers. Johnna Matz was married twice. First to actor Karl Hackenberg (1956-2002) with whom she had a child. After his death, she married Harry von Wutzler. The couple lived retired in Unterach am Attersee in Austria. Johanna Matz died on 21 April 2025 at the age of 92, surrounded by her family.

Nata in Iran nel 1969, Marjane Satrapi è la prima fumettista del suo Paese; è cresciuta in una famiglia fortemente progressista, suo madre era nipote di Nasreddine Shah, un imperatore Qadjar dell’Iran ed alcuni suoi parenti subirono gravi conseguenze per le loro opinioni politiche. Stabilitasi dopo varie peregrinazioni a Parigi, la Satrapi è diventata un’autrice di fama internazionale grazie al romanzo autobiografico a fumetti Persepolis, edito inizialmente in Italia per la Lizard edizioni ed ora per Sperling & Kupfer. In questo fortunato libro l’autrice racconta la storia del proprio Paese attraverso gli occhi di una bambina curiosa e per nulla disincantata. Questa novella Mafalda ci porta a scoprire, con ironia condita dalla malinconia dell’esilio successivo, sfumature e aspetti spesso nascosti della società iraniana.
La narrazione parte dal passaggio dal regime dello scià a quello khomeinista. Tutto il primo libro si sofferma sulla rivoluzione del 1979, in cui la figura della bambina Marjane ci porta ad esplorare le ambiguità. Nel secondo libro la storia coinvolge il drammatico periodo della guerra Iran – Iraq e termina con la partenza di Marjane per una scuola austriaca. L’incipit del secondo volume mostra proprio l’imposizione del velo alle ragazzine: l’aneddoto è quasi umoristico, visto che il chador assume per le bambine un ruolo ludico ed anche charmant!
Il bianco e il nero intensi ed essenziali, la sobrietà della narrazione, vengono arricchiti da un gusto persiano in alcune decorazioni e stilemi che ricordano, più che disegni, xilografie.
In Francia i libri di Persepolis hanno ottenuto un incredibile successo (più di 150.000 copie vendute), e hanno avuto l’attenzione di un pubblico vasto di adulti e giovani adolescenti e sono diventati libri di lettura in molte scuole francesi. L’occhio autobiografico che racconta per aneddoti epigrammatici e con tono scanzonato, una storia a volte complessa ed anche lontana da noi, ci rapisce e diviene uno strumento di conoscenza maggiore di tanti manuali di storia.
La mostra è corredata da un interessante catalogo bilingue (italiano e inglese), edito dalla Lizard edizioni, che contiene testi critici di Antonio Faeti, docente di Grammatiche della fantasia all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, Igor Prassel, curatore della rivista di fumetto Stripburger di Ljubljana e la critica d’arte Teresa Macrì. La grafica è curata dall’artista visivo Gianluca Costantini.
Inguine.net (per maggiori informazioni sulle attività del gruppo www.inguine.net) continua la collaborazione con le attività espositive di Mirada, presentado un video con le tavole a fumetti di autori italiani e stranieri, ispirate a temi tratti dall’opera della Satrapi. Biografia
Marjane Satrapi è nata il 22 novembre 1969 a Rasht, sulle rive del mar Caspio.
Discendente di una nobile famiglia, ha avuto un nonno comunista e la madre femminista dai quali ha ereditato la coscienza politica.
Ha passato la sua infanzia a Teheran dove ha conosciuto la rivoluzione e la guerra contro l'Iraq.
Durante la guerra Marjane ha dovuto lasciare il suo paese mal sopportando il clima instaurato dal nuovo regime: ha appena 14 anni quando viene mandata a Vienna in un liceo francese.
Tornata in Iran studia Belle arti, ma i suoi progetti sugli eroi, e soprattutto sulle eroine della mitologia iraniana, non convincono il regime e deve lasciare di nuovo il suo paese.
Dopo aver studiato Arte a Strasburgo si trasferisce a Parigi, dove tutt'ora abita.
Dal 1977 scrive e illustra libri per i bambini.
Nel 2000 esce il suo primo volume, Persepolis, in cui racconta la storia del suo paese e di come, ragazzina di nove anni, ha vissuto la rivoluzione degli anni ottanta.
Nel volume secondo di Persepolis parla della guerra, dell'esilio e del ritorno.
I suoi racconti a fumetti svelano un mondo in parte sconosciuto adottando una formula di grande suggestione e aiutano a penetrarlo forse meglio di tanti saggi.

Warned in advance, the Allies put up a defense in depth that rendered the German preliminary bombardment ineffective. The Germans managed to advance 12 (to 14) km in two days but the French and Americans counter-attacked on the 11th, stopping the German advance. By the 14th it was over.
