A Mata Nacional de Vale de Canas situa-se em Coimbra, Portugal. Conhecida por ter o eucalipto (Eucalyptus diversicolor Müller) mais alto da Europa (70 metros de altura), a mata ocupa uma área de 16 hectares.
No século XVI já havia referências a esta mata, que era nessa altura designada por Mata do Rei e constituída por vegetação espontânea.
Em 1867 foi adquirida pelo Estado Português, para retirar a madeira de pinheiro necessária às obras hidráulicas da Mata Nacional do Choupal, obras contra as cheias.
Em 1866-1870 sofreu um repovoamento com plantas autóctones e exóticas, algumas vindas de França e da Alemanha, sob a orientação de Manoel Afonso D'Esgueira e com a colaboração do Jardim Botânico da Universidade de Coimbra. Da Austrália vieram os eucaliptos distribuídos por 32 espécies da família Myrtaceae.
Em 1936 sofreu obras de melhoramento orientadas pelo Dr. Manuel Braga.
A Mata Nacional de Vale de Canas foi afectada por um violento incêndio no Verão de 2005, encontrando-se em fase de reflorestação, que tem privilegiado as espécies autóctones como o castanheiro.
A Mata Nacional de Vale de Canas possui um belo jardim, sendo frequentemente visitada por grupos de alunos que ali assistem a sessões de educação ambiental.

The lighting person decided red was his color for the night so I mostly shot in black and white. I've been a big fan of Mat Kearney for years so it was great to finally see him and take photos for the first time.
Mats made this laavu over the winter of '94-'95. We took it to I-Day 2 in '95, and while we were setting it up, Mats was up on my shoulders tying it in place. Suddenly, he said "Bjorn."
"Yeah?"
"No. Bjorn."
"Yeah? What?"
"NO. BJORN."
"Ooooooh....bjorn!"
Seems that about 10 feet in front of me was a black bear, trying to figure out what the laavu was. Yeah. Fun times.

The FOCA Universel "RC » is the ultimate and last evolution circa 1962 of the French range-finder 35mm FOCA Universel camera's (1948-1963) .
Only a bit more than 2000 FOCA URC were produced in the O.P.L. (« Optique et precision de Levallois » S.A.) in Châteaudun, Eure, France, in 1962 and 1963 before stopping definitively the manufacturing of the curtain-shutter camera’s. The FOCA Universel RC is considered as the most beautiful FOCA ever produced in France. A series of 102 FOCA Universel RC were delivered to the French Navy "Marine Nationale", that are a real rarity today (about 20 cameras known)
The evolution of the FOCA Universel to the « RC » version included a complete new system of very wide viewfinder at 1:1 ratio with collimation in orange color and coupled with full parallax compensation. I got the camera on September 9, 2023 at the photo fair of the Photography Museum of Saint-Bonnet-de-Mure, France. It took about 3 months of reflexion and discussion with a retailer to take the decision. The camera was provided with the normal 5-lens OPLAR optics 1:2.8 f=5cm of the same period (model-6 version-10, 1961) with front cap and FOCA AUV 42mm push-on filter. The camera has the specific URC ever-ready leather bag in perfect condition, and the original edition of the user manual.
