Dùng thuốc nhỏ mắt đúng cách

Không dùng thuốc nhỏ mắt có thay đổi màu hoặc có chất kết tủa; nếu dùng hơn một loại thuốc nhỏ mắt thì chờ tối thiểu là 5 phút trước khi nhỏ loại thứ 2.
Hầu hết các chế phẩm nhỏ mắt có trên thị trường đều ở dạng dung dịch, được cung cấp dưới dạng các lọ nhỏ giọt. Khi nhỏ thuốc, tránh chạm tay vào đầu ống nhỏ giọt có thể dẫn đến ô nhiễm thuốc và có thể gây ra chấn thương mắt. Với dịch treo, trước khi sử dụng nên lắc lọ thuốc để cung cấp liều lượng thuốc chính xác.
Rửa tay kỹ
Để nhỏ thuốc dạng dung dịch chúng ta cần rửa tay kỹ trước khi nhỏ; ngửa đầu hay nằm xuống và nhìn lên trên; nhẹ nhàng nắm mi mắt dưới lông mi và kéo khỏi mắt để tạo thành một túi; đặt ống nhỏ giọt thẳng phía trên mắt; không để ống nhỏ giọt tiếp xúc với ngón tay, mắt hoặc bất kỳ bề mặt nào; giữ khoảng cách từ mắt đến đầu ống nhỏ giọt khoảng 2,5 cm.

Cần nhìn lên trên trước khi nhỏ một giọt thuốc vào mắt; thả mi mắt ra từ từ và nhẹ nhàng nhắm mắt lại; với đôi mắt khép kín, dùng áp lực nhẹ nhàng của một ngón tay ấn vào góc bên trong của mắt 2 đến 3 phút để làm chậm thoát dung dịch thuốc; không rửa ống thuốc; không sử dụng thuốc nhỏ mắt có thay đổi màu hoặc có chứa chất kết tủa; nếu dùng hơn một loại thuốc nhỏ mắt thì chờ tối thiểu là 5 phút trước khi nhỏ loại thứ 2.

Thận trọng khi dùng thuốc mỡ
Thuốc mỡ có thể làm mờ tầm nhìn nên phải dùng thận trọng trong điều kiện đòi hỏi hình ảnh rõ ràng (ví dụ lái xe, vận hành thiết bị máy móc, đọc sách, báo...) hoặc sử dụng trước khi đi ngủ; kiểm soát ngày hết hạn chặt chẽ; không sử dụng thuốc đã hết hạn. Thuốc nước và thuốc mỡ rất hay bị dùng sai. Vì vậy, thầy thuốc cũng không nên cho rằng bệnh nhân đã biết làm thế nào để tối đa hóa việc sử dụng an toàn và hiệu quả của các loại thuốc này mà phải hướng dẫn bệnh nhân cụ thể cách sử dụng thuốc.
Ngoài dung dịch thì còn có các dạng sau đây:
- Nhũ tương: Là hỗn hợp của dầu và nước, cách nhỏ thuốc như dung dịch và dịch treo nhưng khác ở chỗ là không phải lắc trước khi dùng.
- Mỡ: Mục đích chính của mỡ tá dược trong nhãn khoa là kéo dài thời gian tác dụng của thuốc trên bề mặt nhãn cầu. Thuốc thường được sử dụng cho trẻ em vì trẻ thường khóc mỗi khi nhỏ thuốc; điều trị các tổn thương khác ở bán phần trước của mắt như xước giác mạc. Khi phải dùng cả thuốc nước và thuốc mỡ thì dùng thuốc nước trước khi dùng thuốc mỡ vì thuốc mỡ làm giảm sự hấp thu thuốc nước.
Khi sử dụng thuốc mỡ, chú ý rửa tay kỹ trước khi nhỏ thuốc; ngửa đầu hay nằm xuống và nhìn lên trên; nhẹ nhàng nắm dưới mi mắt dưới lông mi và kéo mí mắt khỏi mắt để tạo thành một túi; đặt 1-1,5 cm thuốc mỡ vào sâu bên trong túi mi mắt bằng cách ép tuýp thuốc nhẹ nhàng và từ từ bỏ mí mắt ra; đóng mắt từ 1 đến 2 phút; có thể xảy ra nhìn mờ tạm thời; tránh các hoạt động đòi hỏi thị lực cho đến khi hết mờ; loại bỏ thuốc mỡ quá mức xung quanh mắt hoặc đầu ống thuốc mỡ bằng khăn giấy vô khuẩn; nếu sử dụng hơn một loại thuốc mỡ thì chờ khoảng 10 phút mới dùng đến loại thứ 2.
- Dạng keo (gel): Thuốc dạng này thường được dùng cho bệnh nhi. Các thuốc hay dùng dạng này là thuốc dãn đồng tử hay liệt cơ thể mi. Thuốc được cung cấp bằng một dụng cụ phun mù hoặc lọ xịt vô khuẩn.
- Dạng chải mi: Sản phẩm thương mại hiện có là chất tẩy rửa mí mắt, dung dịch hoặc mỡ kháng sinh, được đưa trực tiếp vào mi mắt để điều trị viêm bờ mi. Dạng này có thể sử dụng bằng cách đưa thuốc vào đầu tăm bông và chà lên bờ mi nhiều lần mỗi ngày. Các sản phẩm thương mại cung cấp dưới dạng miếng gạc với chất tẩy rửa mí mắt cũng rất thuận tiện trong sử dụng.

After 12 years in the photographic trade in the RAF, Brian Mateer joined Fisons. This was part of their Farm Photo Plan in which two cameras one with 35mm colour Infrared film and the other with 120 negative film were used. The infrared film could pinpoint any disease in the crop.
A precarious method of photographing was employed in which Brian had to stand on the pilot seat and photograph through the open window using a fast shutter speed. Generally pictures were taken at 500 feet and the whole job would take about 30 minutes.
These images were donated by Brian Mateer.
A few threads are pulled from the shank of fibres, inserted into a small hole in the Wema (a long smooth stick) which is then pushed across the weft to make a new line of the pattern.
