2045. Energy crisis. A team of seven astronauts landed on the surface of Mars in search of a new energy source for their home planet – green energy crystals. But they are not alone on this planet...

Mars will reach opposition on Oct. 13, 2020, when the Red Planet will be only 39 million miles (62.7 million km) from Earth, the closest pairing until 2035.
As a result, Mars looks much brighter and bigger than usual.

A bold astronaut sets forth on a mission,
To explore the vast and unknown,
His faraway ship of hope and ambition,
As he journeys towards the red planet alone.
The endless expanse of space surrounds him,
A canvas of stars and light,
But his gaze is fixed on the horizon ahead,
On the promise of Mars shining bright.
For he knows the journey will be long,
And filled with perils and challenges galore,
But he has the courage to carry on,
And the determination to explore.
With every passing day, his spirit soars,
As he draws ever closer to his goal,
To step foot on the Martian shores,
And to leave his mark on the cosmos whole.
For he is an explorer at heart,
A seeker of knowledge and truth,
And his journey to Mars is just the start,
Of a cosmic adventure, full of youth.

During my evening commute about 6:15pm today, I saw a bright object very close to the moon. I immediately texted my astronomy friend who promptly replied that it was Mars, which was supposed to be passed over by the moon for a short period of time. He told me to look up the sky again around 7:30pm as the Mars would emerge from the other side of the moon. So I rushed back home and set up my camera on a tripod. I took several shots with silent shutter. I imported the images into my home PC and stacked them to enhance the details. Here is the final result. You can see the Mars at about one O'clock above the moon. It was much fainter than before when I first saw it while driving on the freeway.

United Arab Emirate's Amal image of Mars' moon Deimos partially obscuring part of the limb of Mars. Some clouds are visible along the line of mountains.
Like a sprinkle of powdered sugar on a rich red velvet cake, this scene from the ESA/Roscosmos ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter captures the contrasting colours of bright white water-ice against the rusty red martian soil.
This delightful image was taken 5 July 2021 and soaks in the view of a 4 km-wide crater in Mars’ north polar region of Vastitas Borealis, centred at 70.6 °N/230.3°E.
The crater is partially filled with water ice, which is also particularly predominant on its north-facing slopes that receive fewer hours of sunlight on average throughout the year.
The dark material clearly visible on the crater rim – giving it a somewhat scorched appearance – likely consists of volcanic materials such as basalt.
Most of the surrounding terrain is ice free, but has been shaped by ongoing aeolian processes. The streaks at the bottom right of the image are formed by winds that have removed the brighter iron oxide dust from the surface, exposing a slightly darker underlying substrate.
TGO arrived at Mars in 2016 and began its full science mission in 2018. The spacecraft is not only returning spectacular images, but also providing the best ever inventory of the planet’s atmospheric gases, and mapping the planet’s surface for water-rich locations. It will also provide data relay services for the second ExoMars mission comprising the Rosalind Franklin rover and Kazachok platform, when it arrives on Mars in 2023.

The fog beat me to the sunset at Point Reyes, but on the way back past Nicasio Reservoir, the skies cleared. Mars in the upper right shines through despite the heavy Bay Area light pollution in the distance. © 2016 All Rights Reserved.
This photo was taken with red, green and blue filters by the EXI camera aboard the UAE Hope spacecraft, from an altitude of 24700 km at 20:35 UTC on February 10, 2021, one day after arriving at Mars. The north pole is at the top left, while the three great shield volcanoes of Tharsis Montes (Ascraeus Mons, Pavonis Mons and Arisia Mons) stand out at the center.
In the shot many thin clouds are visible and some shiny formations emerge even beyond the terminator, thanks to the processing. At the bottom left, a small object emerges which should be Deimos, according to the simulator.
