I went up County Road 3 a bit from my Bogan Flats campsite looking for a place to photograph the low clouds. Near the small town of Marble, Colorado I found a nice beaver pond. Notice the beaver lodge on the upper left side of the pond.

Roman sculpture of a noble woman, dating to circa 130-140 A.D. and the reign of Hadrian. She is from, what is known as, the Temple of Aphrodite in Cyrene, Libya. She is made of two types of marble, a simpler one from Athens called Pentelic for the body, and a more exclusive for the head from the Greek island of Paros.

She was excavated in 1865 by Captain Robert Murdoch Smith and Commander Edwin A. Porcher and brought to the British Museum where she still is.

(The portraits of the wall behind her seems to be from Palmyra - just judging by their looks.)

A very grey day on the beach, so added my own colour with a marble.

The Dilwara Temples or Delvada Temples

are located about 2 1⁄2 kilometres from the Mount Abu settlement, Rajasthan's only hill station.

These Jain temples were built by Vimal Shah and designed by Vastupala, Jain minister of Dholka, between the 11th and 16th centuries and are famous for their use of white marble and intricate marble carvings.

Just one little marble, soaking up some warm light.

Georgia Northeastern Railroad GP20 #7562 brings three loaded marble hoppers up the switchback on the former Georgia Marble Railroad branch. Once they clear the switch theyll shove up the 4.5% grade into Tate. It was always a sure bet to get the first generation EMD's on the branch since the GP38's were deemed too heavy. After the first gen EMD's were purged from the roster by Patriot Rail in 2017 they tried upgrading the branch to support the GP38's but didnt really make it much better. Derailments are pretty common here albeit nothing major fortunately.

Taken for the Macro Monday theme of marbles. I tried so many ways of photographing marbles and finally decided on this one as my other ideas just didn't work.

Taken from a place called Three Alcoves. A long drive, but worth it.

Another view of the Marble Boat, also known as the Boat of Purity and Ease, which is located on the grounds of the Summer Palace in Beijing, China. It was originally built as a pavilion in 1755 during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor. In 1860, the pavilion was destroyed by Anglo-French forces during the Second Opium War . It was restored in 1893 on order of Empress Dowager Cixi. In this restoration, a new two-story superstructure was designed which incorporated elements of European architecture.

ME:

Peter...why do you look so sad?

PETER:

Well...I'm not feeling very well.

ME:

Do you have a stomachache or a headache or something else?

PETER:

No, but...but...I feel so lonely.

Everyone is at Paddy's birthday party and I'm not.

And...and I have a present for Paddy. I want to give Paddy my prettiest marble and I would like a piece of that cake and I would like to see my very best friend Scout and my dearest princess Rosie and Nanuk and...

ME:

Wait a minute, Peter.

Are you a little jealous of Oleg because he's at his best friend's birthday party and you're not?

PETER:

Jealous? No, not at all. I wish Oleg and Paddy a happy birthday and hope they get to eat lots of cake until they feel sick.

ME:

Until they feel sick? That's not very nice to say, Peter.

By the way, you went to your best friend Scout's birthday party and Oleg wasn't there. He was happy that you and Scout were having such a good time.

Let Oleg enjoy this time with his great friend.

Come on...let's do something fun together.

How about we play marbles together?

There are lots of them in the attic.

PETER:

Oh...yes, Mummy Marian...that sounds like fun.
