Mail-4 slithers across the Beaver River and is entering New Brighton, PA on March 31, 1992. Just a few miles ahead is Conway yard and a crew change. Power is a GP40-2 and a trio of B36-7's. Kodachrome 200 scan.
Three decades have passed since the previous picture was taken and its still raining in Carlisle, though this year with more serious consequences. The WCML had just re-opened the day before, following Storm Desmond's flooding of the Border city. 6M03, the 0520 Shieldmuir - Warrington Christmas Mail vans pause at Carlisle behind 90024 and, still waiting in platform 2, another train to Barrow, on this occasion; 156475.
As I wonder the city, I'm always on the lookout for unusual Mail Slots.
My walks about the city of Philadelphia let me observe these treasure.
Conrail GP40-2 3299 and MAIL 3 (Kearney to East Saint Louis) was blasting alongside PA Route 333 near Thompsontown Station on the Middle Division in 1992.
The 3299 was one of the first new power acquired by Conrail as it was delivered from EMD in May of 1977. It served Conrail well until 1999, when it became CSX 4409.

Even though the travelling post office ( TPO ) and the loading of mail on stations finished some years ago ,mail still goes by rail on the ECML and WCML mainly under the cover of darkness .

The Golden Temple mail has just completed its 31 hour journey from Amritsar Punjab in the very north of India to Mumbai. One of the many fascinating scenes that have long disappeared from US railroads.
One package was mailed 12/4, one 12/20, & one 12/30 from the same place, & they all arrived on 1/2. You would think Christmas delivery would be more organized by now, it's not like it's a surprise when it comes up.
Anyway, new dolls, new doll clothes, new doll miniatures, new doll rooms, new doll parts, new Nendoroids, lots of new.
EDITED: I just went out to the mailbox to get the rest of the mail & surprise! there was another box waiting for me, it was mailed on 12/21. Was the Post Office holding all my packages in a secret location until after the holidays?

The main Post Office in Fairbanks Alaska on January 31 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon the sun this time of the year never comes off the southern horizon by much.
