The iconic open cab and aerodynamic race car shape proved to be a creative challenge when working on a moderate scale to squeeze as much detail (open cab seats, stick shift knob, front/rear wings, nose cone, engine, side coolers, intake, etc.) as possible.

I started out with Body layer 1 to define its overall footprint and built up the shape from there using my solid layering technique (used on countless other designs) up to 8 layers total. I wanted to capture the spirit of the design, while fighting the challenge of magnet sphere limitations (e.g., the car doesn't have an axle between tires, however, it was required here since it would be impossible to interpret or the wings were impossible to scale correctly. Used a combination of Zen Magnets and Neoballs to help define details and shapes using color contrasting.

Zen Magnets (@1464) - Flying Kick Action ! This original design uses 2x Magnet Men or Battle Droid variations to capture the classic martial arts Flying Kick and Sweep Kick techniques. The challenge was to get the body proportions and joint bends accurate with the limitations of the magnetic fields. Added 3D details to enhance the head, chest, arms, and legs to give the impression of depth while shooting the action lying flat. This removed the complexity burden of supporting the upright stances, which was in the original idea of a kick/block supporting both.

By using the 'ferrofluid' with a strong magnet, one is able to see the magnetic 'lines of force' eminating from the rare earth magnets held below the dish containing the liquid.

One morning while at a local roadside restaurant for breakfast - I saw this car - covered with magnets. Magnets with messages you might see on billboards, or on roadside barns.

Rather than discuss the merits of the message - instead I'd like to focus on the fact that marketing has gotten to the point in our society that everything seems to be covered with marketing or advertising messages of some type - thus this car - covered with "marketing" for Christianity is a result of that - so that no longer are subtle message heard - because of the noise generated by all the marketing. As I've been collecting ribbon magnets and such - it is amazing the amount of marketing you find on cars alone. (There are cars/vans out there - that rather than use a magnet - get the full treatment with logos and images - even over parts of the windows.)

It has gotten to the point that our sports arenas, and music venues are no longer named by early supporters of the facility/team/etc - they are named for today's high bidder.

How long till there is a skyscraper with a religious message on the side of it ?

A round magnet, used for attaching papers to an upright shelf support, made a good macro shot test for a GRD III. I see that I did not quite manage to remove the iron filings etc attached to the magnet!
