These are not magnets (I think), but I would love something like one of these.
April 24: The other day I stumbled on a short talk at the 2009 TED conference by a climber named Matthew Childs, in which he outlines some principles of rock climbing that can be applied to everyday life. Like: Don't let go! But when you have to--because you find yourself falling--know how to let go. A few others: Hesitation is bad (momentum is good); Have a plan to make it all the way to the top; Maintain focus; Know how to rest; Don't let fear take over; and Strength doesn't ensure success (rather, finesse and balance count for a lot).
Hearing him talk made me a little nostalgic. The last time I went climbing was in November, just before my partner and I went our separate ways. If we hadn't done that, right about now I'd be getting jazzed up about an upcoming trip--since we always did something in May. Alaska a couple of times, and otherwise some nice road trips (last year was the Pacific Northwest). So now I have to scare me up some new climbing partners (a few of the guys on my SAR team climb--we just need to coordinate) and GET OUT THERE. In the meantime, I have these silly magnets on my fridge to remind me that climbing IS out there for me, if I seek it out; and that perseverance, planning, keeping up momentum and focus, knowing when to take a break, and--perhaps especially--knowing how to let go are critical skills in all areas of life.
I have become a magnet making machine. Talk about mini-stuff! Really challenging to make each interesting and different.

What you'll need to make your own DIY stamped clay magnets:
Air hardening clay, a rolling pin, various stamps, cookie cutters, magnets and a glue gun, media ink, contour liner.
Take your air hardening clay and roll it out to about 5 mm thick.
Punch out the shape of your magnets using a cookie cutter.
Stamp your design into the clay.
Set aside and leave to dry overnight.
Inking them.
Glue a magnet onto the back of each disc.
You're all finished.
I also used Media Ink in the following projects too:

Note the spike starting at 2/14. They're from the figures in the magnet packs, which yielded $1050.83 in just the past three days with a sizable remainder in inventory and leftover lightsabers.
In terms of profit, that's an estimated $400 in addition to leftover lightsabers and magnet bricks, which I'll tack to my fridge and put my old minifigs on display.
All this resulted from over 50 magnet packs, which cost over $800 of investment.
Once again my speculation has not come up short. I'm not sure what I'll do with an extra $400. I'll start with pre-ordering Resident Evil 5 and paying off some Bricklink orders on my upcoming projects. The remainder will go towards investments in future sales.

Made some fridge magnets. Just used double sided tape to stick vintage ribbons I got from my grandma. Quick, easy and so cute. Try!
We made magnets out of the large flattened marbles and used bits of a metal measuring tape to "stick" them to for packaging...
I just bought a new Canon printer and it's so much fun to make these kawaii magnets! I will include one as a free gift for each order. Each is about 1.75" x 1.25". They look kawaii on my fridge!
This is the storage solution I came up with for my (currently) unused magnets. I'm seriously addicted to magnets & can't possibly use them all at the same time. So, the rotation is easier if they have a special place of the own. And I got to reuse an egg container ! (ALL the magnets shown here were purchased on Etsy)
