ZEN MAGNETS - Neodymium Magnetic Balls (@1042) - Mecha Warrior v02
Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNGGDpoZSZ8
v02 updated free standing structure, changed head, weapons systems on arms, weaponized arm position on right, reversed jetpack, and updated body detail.
Now I have 12 sets of my magnets tied up in the Yamato and Mecha Warrior v02 permanent builds.

This Mecha Warrior design is my Zen homage to Japanese Anime Mecha, recent Mecha suits (District9, Avatar), with a little Terminator and Star Wars thrown in. I added non-symmetric weapons systems in both arms to weaponize him with different built-in types on each side (a-la District9). He also has a Jet-pack in the center of his back along with rear facing particle projector on his backside.
The weight of the upper body proved to be a major challenge to get it to stand stable with no additional reinforcement other than the linked staggered hexagon double/triple layered hexagon stacks (same construction I used for my Water Dragon design). I used the arms to stabilize the standing frame by attaching/resting his hands on his legs. The overall weigh was distributed.
Enhancements to v02 included after adding balls and strings to various weak structural points that buckled in v01: upper hip area, lower knee area, rear section, ankle section, and back area. He is pretty solid now with the sacrifice of losing some of the details for structural security.
He is standing in a tight fit display case now ... this will be a test for magnetic strength to see if it can maintain the structure and weight over time.
Like a magnet, the promise of brew pubs and delicious things drew me across the Willamette to Portland's Inner Eastside during my 11 hour layover on this Sunday.
In this gorgeously industrial neighborhood, I found a plethora of amazing sour beers, some tasty non-sours, and the pleasant surprise of three distilleries within walking distance. Somehow I still managed to get a few photos and make it back to for my flight on time... I could walk through this area for days without running out of interesting scenes (or interesting beers). I can't wait to continue the tour and take a few more photos next weekend. :)
Unfortunately, the magnet shop was closed...

These were on the refrigerator in Daisy when I purchased her. They were also all over on anything metal like the tray tins, etc.

In der Schweiz habe ich ziemlich viele weitere Magneten, die aber nicht alle am Kühlschrank stecken. Diese beiden gefallen mir besonders gut.

This is my collection of refridgerator magnets. Some of them were acquired from other roomies when they moved. I took 2 of the Pillsbury ones (set of 3) from my friend, Lindsey McCaig when she wasn't looking. I told her what I did a few days later and she told me she will give me the last piece of the set to "add to the collection if I'm good." I'm still waiting for that day. The smaller ones are from the SFMOMA Frida Kahlo exhibit.

Kids love toy magnets. I figured what better to say "365 Toy Project" than to just spell it out. :)

Just by teasing the LED legs from the previous shot, even more of the structure of the field around the magnet can be described.
(NBThe wires at the poles are far flatter than they should be, due to the sheer strength of magnet pulling them tight against it.)
Attach the magnet and secure with tape.
(note: Although the image shows the opposite, its a good idea to attach the magnet directly over the led wire on the side of the battery with the card. This ensures that when the switch is pulled out the magnet is attracted to the battery and sandwiches the LED wire, removing any gap left by the removal of the card switch.

ZEN MAGNETS - Neodymium Magnetic Balls (@360) - Dodecahedron w/Pentagons within Pentagons
@360 = (2 x (6 x (6 x 5-ball ring pentagons w/one in the center)))
This dodecahedron was created using modular units fashioned from pentagons formed during the c60 build (stop at that point instead of continuing to form the sphere).
The last pentagon was left out to leave an opening on the bottom.
This magnetic brace is ideal for those suffering from back pain. It's great for extra support with added comfort. It contains 9 BIOflex concentric circle magnets, making this back belt perfect for lumbar pain and support.
Trioxon — This material captures and retains your natural body heat, and allows your skin to ventilate and remain comfortably dry. It's ideal for the everyday user and you'll appreciate the difference on your skin.
These magnets are a patented technology from BIOflex, the first company to have magnets engineered as magnetic therapy for human use. Magnetic therapy is gaining recognition in a increasingly health conscious population.
